Re: Around the NHL
Seguin's a helluva player, though.
Also, Habs are in talks with Guerin, which I'm praying happens. Absolute perfect fit with Gionta and Gomez. If that doesn't pan out, they said it's going to be Miro Satan. Also a chance Marc-Andre Bergeron gets re-signed, which I hope doesn't happen.

Re: Around the NHL
Jeff Skinner has been the suprise of the year so far. When the Cane's drafted him I thought he was at least 2 years away from being an NHL player but he's been outstanding so far.

Re: Around the NHL
Went to the game tonight. Habs ****ing killed it, and then soft-ass Markov gets hurt again. I pray we're not going to be the idiots paying him long term after this year.

Re: Around the NHL
Agreed on Avery. Such a douchebag. Honestly, if someone gave him a Bertuzzi from behind I would not care one bit. You know it's going to happen too.
In other news, I'm sitting in the Old Forum doing some sketching, when I see a bunch of cameras next to me out of nowhere and a girl talking to someone. I lean forward to see whose getting interviewed and I have Carey Price staring me right in the face. I collectively came close to puking and ****ting my pants all in one go.

Is Carey Price wearing a Brewers hat?

Re: Around the NHL
Yep, he was wearing a Brewers hat. I've seen him wearing a Broncos cap, too.
Dude is huge in real life too; I knew he was big by goalie standards but it's pretty ridiculous when you see how big they actually are in real life. I remember shaking Georges Laraque's hand too and he basically palmed my fist.
I was going to ask him for an autograph but he looked like he was trying to stay low-ki and there were a lot of people around so I just took it for what it was. Really cool experience.

What's wrong with New Jersey?

Ilya Kovalchuk.
I said it when it happened; it was a great high risk move to take but it was obvious it wouldn't work out. They had to change their entire gameplan to suit him and now it's exposing Brodeur since he doesn't have a defense constantly all over the place to protect him - his age doesn't help either.
If Jersey was smart, they would've did the rumored deal to LA at the draft to get Jack Johnson and Wayne Simmonds with a 2nd for Kovalchuk. They would've been way better and LA would've been the one screwed. Now instead, they're in one of the worst cap situations in all of sports right now, they have a 15 year albatross on their cap and they're going to lose their GM and more likely than not a few key players because of Kovalchuk.
Potentially, New Jersey could've looked like this:
Parise/Zajac/Langenbrunner
Elias/Arnott/Simmonds
Rolston/Clarkson/Zubrus
Vasyunov/Mair/Gionta
Volchenkov/Johnson
Tallinder/Greene
White/Salvador
(Corrente/Taormina)
Brodeur
Hedberg
Instead, they have that moron Kovalchuk and are getting raped by injuries. And they're going to lose Arnott and Langenbrunner to FA if they don't make a trade, and there's a good chance they lose Parise too if they can't make the deals to free up cap. Not just that; if they finish towards the bottom of the league, they won't even have a draft pick this year because of the Kovy contract that was disallowed. What a freakin mess. And it's not even Lou's fault either; it's the owners for forcing him to re-sign Kovy.

Re: Around the NHL
I was surprised with Pittsburgh at first, but they seem to be rounding into form.
New Jersey should not be last in goals per game regardless of roster issues. During their last six games; three were shutouts and in the other they scored 13 goals.
Leafs are up 1-0 in the second though.

Trade went down a couple of days ago: Darryl Sutter trades son to Carolina
RALEIGH, N.C. — Roughly one week after Brett Sutter was jailed following a bar fight, his father traded him away.
Calgary general manager Darryl Sutter sent his son Brett and defenceman Ian White to the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday in exchange for defenceman Anton Babchuk and forward Tom Kostopoulos. The Hurricanes announced the trade about three hours before their game against Ottawa.
The younger Sutter is getting a fresh start. The trade came roughly a week after the 23-year-old got into a fight outside an Arizona bar and was jailed briefly on suspicion of assault.

Whole lot of offense going on in the Flyers/Lightning game. I knew I shouldn't have started Dan Ellis. 7-6 Flyers halfway through the game.

Word is that the deal was agreed too before the bar fight happened.
I'd imagine that it'd be tough playing on team run by your dad and coached by your uncle. It was probably the best move for him.

Re: Around the NHL
Man, the Habs stunk it up tonight. Had a feeling it would happen too after how the Philly game went.
Could be a good thing though; probably a wake up call for the guys for when the Leafs come into town on Saturday.

Re: Around the NHL
Owning the Leafs never, ever gets old. There were a few loudmouth Leaf fans a row in front of me and my friend, and after the Habs scored the shorty there were a few drunk Habs fans next to me that were leaning over and actually screaming in their ears haha. They looked like they were going to burst into tears the rest of the night. They bought a bunch of beer and kept their heads down the rest of the night.

Re: Around the NHL
Great to see the Wings keep rolling. We have been on fire this season a great core of guys and Modano has been a great surprise for us.
Howard has been among the best goalies with Tim Thomas and our defensive core is just great, I thought we were going to loose yesterday against the Flames but Datsyuk and Zetterberg showed why there among the elite in the NHL. I hope we can keep this rolling when we take on Atlanta should be a easy win for us. It's goes to show you how much depth we have I mean Qunicy and Lieno were once Wings and both put on waivers for salary issues and now look at them both are key parts in their teams success.
Hope Toronto keeps loosing and the Wings keep wining
