For the Harry Potter fans (looking at you Ben and Miller), the latest movie comes out today.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Question that I saw was answered on this board but cannot find it...

Why did Gilbert change his number to 9? What was the significance?

One rumor was that was the apt number that his mom left him in when he was abandoned as a kid. Another said that was the date on the day his mom died this year.

Sleeping patterns are a vicious cycle. Once they get messed up it's hard to fix them. Doesn't help that I've been killing Dexter episodes. Finished season 4 tonight. I really really hated the ending (but not in a bad way).

I watched the first two episodes of season 5 and they are pretty lame. A whole lot of stuff going on without anything really having a significance. For every other season after I finished one episode I immediately wanted to watch the next one. It felt like a chore watching season 5 so far.

I loved the Season 4 ending. It was awesome, and I agree on Season 5. I love Dexter, but I stopped watching Season 5 about 3 episodes in. I couldn't get into it. I'll catch up eventually, but eh...it's very average.

Thanks. I thought there was a definitive answer but I guess not.

About to spend my 6th thanksgiving in 7 years outside of the U.S.

One was in Australia as an exchange student, and I went to a pretty standard thanksgiving dinner hosted by some other Americans.

Five in Japan, this being the third in Tokyo, where most of my friends aren't American and the apartments small and ovenless. The last two years (and for Christmas as well) I went out for Hamburgers with my Fijian, Danish, and Japanese friends. This year it looks like it'll be a real Thanksgiving with actual turkeys.

I'm making the stuffing, so I've been drying bread cubes for the past week and am roasting bones for chicken stock. Also making boiled onions in a white cream sauce. And cranberry jam with orange peel, though it's shockingly hard to find fresh cranberries so I had to rehydrate sweetened dried cranberries I bought in Chinatown.

What kind of responsibilities you all have, if any? If we're lucky this year we may have a recorded old football game on someone's laptop...

ONE OTHER ARENAS NOTE: Arenas said that he chose number nine because nine symbolizes "the rebirth." I don't know a lot about numerology, and a quick Google scan revealed little real information, but clearly there's a good reason for Arenas to sport number nine. Arenas also said that one prominent NBA star wanted to change his number to nine for the same reason and reached out to him. He declined to say who, but when someone joked that it was Greg Oden, Arenas said "no, no, someone more prominent than him."

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I think there is a fair chance that MIA is really going to miss
Haslem who wiretap says is out until Feb.

Nothing against Haslem but I wish MIA all the bad
luck in the world.

You aren't the only one. Pretty much the entire sports world is rooting for them to fail. I'm not one to believe in superstitious stuff but they have a lot of bad vibes heading their way.

I wonder where they rank in terms of the most unlikable team (in any major US sport) ever put together.

I have some time to kill, so I'm playing with the streak finder at BR, to find fun streaks from the past five years:

- Ben Wallace is the only player to go 3 straight games with 3+ blocks and 3+ steals.
- Jason Collins is the only player to go consecutive games with 30+ minutes and 0 points scored
- Dikembe Mutombo had a 3 game streak of scoring exactly 1 point

I'm sure there's plenty of other fun ones out there.

When I lived in Tokyo, we used to have this tradition of getting the gang together having dinner at Ninniku-ya (don't know how to write this in Roman characters) in Ebisu. We'd go early, have drinks in the bar downstairs, then feast on garlic steak, garlic toast (better than the garlic bread), chicken, hell, the entire menu with beer after beer. Great stuff.
