Official Murphy Trade Talk Thread
Well since we started talking about him in another thread which had nothing to do with him, I guess now is the time to give him his own thread.
What should we do trade him and for what, play him, or just let him expire?

I think at this point if we want to trade him,we have to play him so he can show he's healthy. With the way Humpty and Favors are playing it's looks like he's gonna be used as trade bait around the deadline. If not we let him expire and get our capspace back.

LoL Jeff, no ligament or not, that's probably a deal I'd take, and one the Blazers won't.

Well... Why do you want to trade him? What are you hoping to get in return? If you want to win games then in all likelihood just keeping him and waiting for him to rebound is the way to go.

Re: Official Murphy Trade Talk Thread
Man I love Roy, really do, but his knees are just done.
Fork the size of a snow shovel protruding from his leg.
I have read that expert doctors have said even microfracture will probably not help him even in the long run and that's just scary.
IIRC, his contract is uninsured.
If Portland was ever willing to do a deal where they get nothing but an expiring, a crap prospect like Damion James and a mediocre 1st rounder for him, you best believe there is a major reason why...
It's sad but true.

^^ Agree. If only Roy is not locked-up long term, he would've had better value since his salary can be negotiated moving forward... I feel bad for the guy.

Re: Official Murphy Trade Talk Thread
How about Murphy for Prince? Although I'm sure we need to add sweeteners like 2nd Round Picks et al.... We can resign him to a cheaper contract. He's a very serviceable player and will contribute well defensively with a little offense to go with it.
Utilizing Prince's skills is way better than paying Murphy sitting on the bench. Although I haven't checked if it will work cap wise; the bigger question is, will the Pistons do it? Just thinking out loud...

Re: Official Murphy Trade Talk Thread
The team's we really need to look at are the one's out west with talent that just wont make the playoffs, Im talking about the Rockets and the Grizz.....
I know Kevin Martin is a known loser around the league but I really think Avery can take this guy to the next level, besides his contract isnt bad at all.
Something along the lines of Murphy, Djames, GSW 1st rounder should get the job done.
Harris
Martin
Favors
Lopez
Yummy going forward and should be able to make the playoffs in the east this year.

Wow thats alot of hate for Roy. Id take an injured Roy on the court over Murph any day of the week. At least the guy sees the floor more than Oden.... By the way where did everyone hear he was on the block?

I understand what you are saying but if Roy's knees are really F'ed up do you want to take
$15,032,144, $16,460,538, $17,888,932, $19,317,326 for the next four years?

Rip Hamilton, Chris Wilcox for Quinton Ross, Troy Murphy. Rips the only non-expiring (this year and the next 2, at $12.65 mil each), but I really think he just needs a change of scenery. Wilcox gives you a different big and Ross is included to make the $ work.

I doubt it and personally, I have no interest in Martin at all. He's a horrid defender and constantly injured. Crappy playmaker and passer to.

You're really not understanding how bad Roy's knees are.
This is a guy who maybe forced into retirement if they can't help him in the next few years.
