Brodeur vs. Luongo

Post#1 » by Crowned » Tue Apr 3, 2007 2:53 am

Who would you take? I'd go with Brodeur anyday of the week personally. I know there are a ton of Luongo supporters on the board, so it should be an interesting debate.

I'd also go with Brodeur. He's proven to be a clutch goalie when it counts. Luongo has never seen a playoff series. Set the defence aside.

First off this depends on the context:

Choose a goalie for one game, or choose a goalie to be on your team right now.

If its one game, its hard to go against Brodeur (im a huge Luongo fan so i would still choose him)

If its for your team from now on, its easily Luongo, the age factor is huge.

In the playoffs, you just can't go against Brodeur IMO, until Luongo proves something there. I want to say Roberto because he is the new generation Brodeur, but not as of now.

To put it simply, Brodeur is a 3 time Stanley cup champion and Luongo has yet to play in a playoff game (although that will change this season). I'll go with the goalie who can make a cast as the GOAT goalie of all time.

Exactly. If you're talking about building your franchise around a certain guy, i'd have to go with Luongo due to the age factor. If it was for one game, or even the next couple years i'd bank on Brodeur.

are they both the same age hypatetically

cause if Luongo is younger then i'm gonna take him

but over the course of his career and his clutchness, i take Brodeur

Brodeur, without question. Talk about a guy who's been there and done that. While Luongo is a great goaltender, for all we know he could be another Marty Turco in the post-season and only time will tell how truly great he is. But this one is a no brainer, Brodeur is the best in the business.

I think Luongo is the better goalie right now but if I could only pick one guy to play game 7 of the finals for me, it'd be Brodeur. I have to reluctantly admit that Brodeur will go down as GOAT at his position (Patrick Roy is my all-time favorite player).
