Blake Griffin & Eric Bledsoe have moved up the Rookie Lader

Two-Man Race?

Through five games, this season is shaping up about how I expected: Blake Griffin, John Wall and the rest of them.

Sure, DeMarcus Cousins has looked good. Yeah, Derrick Favors has shown potential. And Evan Turner is doing a little bit of everything.

But Griffin and Wall are putting up ridiculous numbers and have been head and shoulders above the pack.

Blake Griffin

Saturday night, Griffin was well on his way to a monster game. At halftime in Utah, Griffin had 15 points and 12 rebounds. Unfortunately, Griffin finished with just 16 points and 17 rebounds before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Still, Griffin has been a beast the last two games, averaging 21.0 points and 13.5 rebounds to take back the top spot on The Ladder.

Eric Bledsoe

Bledsoe has been impressive filling in for injured point guard Baron Davis. Friday night, Bledsoe had his first double-double, scoring 12 points with 13 assists. Saturday, Bledsoe had 14 points and four assists, while playing 44 minutes of the Clippers' double-OT loss in Utah. Bledsoe looks steady running the point, and if Davis continues to miss time, Bledsoe will only get better and more confident. He could be this season's Darren Collison (who, you'll remember, filled in admirably for Chris Paul last season).

I'm happy with how they've played, there's no where but up for these two. Aminu hasn't been bad either.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Yea both are looking good. Both athletic as hell. Griffin had some dunks with flare that I haven't seen in a long time.

2 Blake Griffin: Los Angeles Clippers

Griffin was up and down this week. In a 113-107 loss to the Pistons on Friday, he had a monster game -- 18 points, 18 rebounds and a pair of blocks. Then, three nights later, Griffin struggled with foul trouble in a 110-96 loss to the Nets, scoring 11 points while hauling in just three rebounds. Griffin has proven he can dominate games, but he needs to do it consistently if he hopes to climb past Wall.

4 Eric Bledsoe: Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers keep losing (they've lost six straight), but Bledsoe keeps improving. He's scored in double-digits in six of his last seven games and has been impressive running the point for the struggling Clippers. Among rookies, the Kentucky product is fifth in scoring, second in assists and steals and, surprisingly, second in field-goal shooting (47 percent, behind only Landry Fields).

7 Al-Farouq Aminu: Los Angeles Clippers
Image
Aminu has come out of nowhere to earn his first spot on the Ladder. He's started the last two games for the Clippers, and over his last four is averaging 12.5 points and 5.2 rebounds while shooting 55 percent from the field (18-for-33). Aminu didn't impress me too much in Vegas and seemed to coast at times, but I've been impressed with what he's done over the last week seeing big minutes for the banged-up Clippers (25.7 mpg over the last four games).

If Blake continues to work out like this, he'll definitely win the ROY
