Are Utah Jazz good or not?

Post#1 » by FJS » Sun Nov 21, 2010 5:15 pm

This team is really amazing me.

We can be beat for mediocre teams like Suns or Nuggets by 20+

We have been always elite rebounding and now we are really poor.
We have been alwayd elite at home and this year we are 3-3
We have been always weak at the road and we are 6-2 with wins in OKC, Portland, Miami, Orlando or Atlanta...
We were a bad team taking care of the ball, and this year we are 9th in less TO with 13.5 and improving
(last 5 games: @ Portland 10, SA 14, NJN 5, OKC 12, @ Hawks 9)

So, I don't know if we are the team who isn't able to win at home vs good teams like OKC or SA or the team who is able to win in difficult arenas.

Are we good or not?

Well, this week should tell us a lot about what kind of team we are. I have the lakers game circled.

You poise a very good question. I dont think anyone knows for sure. I think it depends on Al Jefferson. If he plays like he did versus the Blazers than we are good, but if he plays like he did versus the Spurs than we are bad.

This team is one of the Jazz better defensive teams since the championship seasons but also the worst Jazz rebounding team, maybe ever. This team generally plays hard but never plays a complete game going into snooze mode at least 1 qtr per game.

Overall, I am encouraged with this team bc it is good at what we were not able to do in the past 3 years which is play defense and win on the road. I would call the Jazz a dangerous team but probably not a championship contender bc of deficits in Rajas (outside shooting) and Big Als (rebounding) games.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Inconsistent. I'm tired of relying on potential, really. But it is there.

They can't be good unless they learn to get more rebounds. Even when we won at Portland we were trounced on the boards. Al gets very few offensive rebounds. We can't give the opponents (good ones especially) more chances and expect to win consistently.

I think inconsistent sums them up perfectly.

We have the potential to be a top tier team but we also have the potential to be an 6-8th seed team. It's impossible to ignore the road victories but alas, it is also impossible to ignore the blaring weaknesses of the team and inconsistent play. I had the SA game marked as a measuring stick game...but I still can't say I'm convinced as to who we are since we went out the next night and beat Portland on the road (with a bummed D-Will to boot). The Laker game should give us an idea of where we stand but even then....

It feels as if we are improving but it's still too early for me to say....the team still has no identity as far as I am concerned. We are an awesome defensive team but we are terrible at rebounding...our offense is too simple and inconsistent to gauge yet too...

The home losses arent sooo bad considering who they were to while the road wins are very impressive considering who they were against...c'mon how can anyone be bummed about losses to the Spurs, Thunder & Sun and not thrilled about ROAD wins against the Heat, Magic, Thunder, Blazers, & Hawks??

I think we're in the same level as the Thunder, Suns, Mavs and other non-Laker and non-Spur teams. LA and SA are ahead of the pack right now. OKC had an ugly start but now they're on a roll. The season is still very young.

If Jefferson can start playing like the go-to post player that he could be then I would say we can be a top 4 WC team.

No shame losing to the Spurs. The frustrating part was how (dominated on the boards, etc).

I have a lot of questions about this team (4th quarter heart not being one of them -- while 1st quarter desire is). I hope all the answers are positive.

I honestly don't feel as if the Spurs are all they are being built up to be...I have a feeling they are going to cool in a bad way as the year goes on. They will be lucky to avoid any major injuries too....

Age and injuries are going to be problems for San Antonio. Parker, Ginobili, and Duncan are all guys who suffer from injury problems, and if any one of them goes down it is a serious blow to their team.

This should be a pretty good measuring stick against the Lakers. Losing to San Antonio was our first big test at home, but nobody is beating them right now.

Can't wait to see Al vs. Pau, it certainly can't be worse than Boozer vs. Pau.

In the pre-season, we saw that Al will at least go at Pau, like Millsap does. It can only be an improvement if Jefferson continues his trend of not being a whimpering bitch like Boozer.

We play LA friday night!Ill let you know saturday morning. I think when Memo comes back we could see some amazing. Really what i want to say is i think the Jazz peak at the right time and are a top 3 team in the West. I have a feeling the Spuras are doing this all year long so we need memo the Spur killer to show up to the party

Barkley had the Jazz #2 in the West on TNT tonight. Said that once Okur comes back we are the biggest threats to the Lakers.

I really enjoy this team. Jefferson is much more likable than Boozer. The only down grade is Matthews to Raja, but CJ seems to be stepping up to fill Korvers shoes. The games we lost seemed to be because Deron wasn't great, and wasn't clocking with Al. Seems to be fixed. We won't win every game but the main kinks seem to be ironed.

Big call but probably pretty close. NEw Orleans I do rate pretty highly as well and I guess the Spurs and Mavs will be there abouts as well.

Lack of a consistent 3 pt shooter seems to be an issue from the games I have seen. Okur will be a huge injection to the team. I still think this team needs another spot up shooter regardless. Any chance of getting Korver back?

Would love to have Kyle back. I think he's the missing piece, once we get Memo back. But it won't happen. Let's just hope CJ and Raja become more consistent, and that Hayward shows a willingness to put it up at all.
