What will your opinion of Favre be?

Let's assume he's done at the end of this year and the Queens are done.

I think most of us on here were saying, "if he doesn't win the Queens a Super Bowl, I'll probably eventually forgive him." However, he's continued to be a douche this season and his fall from grace has been epic. What say you?

There is no way to not respect what he did for the Packers. There is also no way to ignore that late in his career he became a total drama queen.

I'll remember him as a great QB and one of the best football players ever. I'll also remember that he was kind of a d-bag towards the end of his career as a Packer, Jet and Viking.

Great regular season QB, average playoff QB, terrible playoff QB later in his career. His toughness is unquestioned and I obviously respect what he did for the Packers though.

I'll never forget his greatness, but will never fully forgive him for his BS throughout the last few years. That will always taint his legacy in my eyes, but he's a Packer legend nonetheless.

In a few years he can come back to the Packer family and everything will be (somewhat) warm and fuzzy. But he will never be what he could have been if he had retired in 2007.

I've pretty much felt this way since we beat him in Lambeau and yesterday just cements the fact that I'm over it. I just can't muster up the animosity for the guy anymore. He did what he did and now both parties seem to have moved on and the Packers are in great shape and the Queens are in horrible shape. It all worked out in the end.



I'm open to Favre coming back in the Packer fold at anytime after his retirement.

If he would have stayed with the Jets or went to any other team besides the Vikings (or Bears) I think I would have been indifferent and then warmed up when he came back to Lambeau to get his jersey retired or whatever. But after going to the Vikings...I just don't see myself ever forgiving him. Too much hate the last 2 seasons to take him back.

I suffered through the 20 years between Starr and Favre with a few decent QB seasons thrown in (Dickey, Majik). I will always be glad I got to see him play and all the great memories. If I were Murphy I would wait a year or two before retiring his number.

Top 5 quarterback of all time. Most endearing professional athlete ever. Could have been better earlier in his career had he had a better head on his shoulders. Best arm ever. Most important packer of the modern era. Returned the team from being the NFL's doormat. Should habe been super bowl 31 mvp Was given too much preferential treatment by mike Sherman and ray Rhodes. Never had a great receiver in his prime to work with otherwise he could have obliterated many of the records he owns. If sterling stayed healthy they are most likely the most prolific duo ever.

I'll also remember how when he left, so many acted like their girlfriend (or boyfriend in Grendon's case) cheated on them. People need to remember that it's a game for entertainment.

I could see the point of starting Jackson but he's had 551 career PA's. It's not like they haven't seem play before. He's a free agent after this season. Assuming Vick stays in Philly (and he will, either with a long term deal or he will be tagged), there really aren't any good QB's available. Minny is screwed. I do want them to win a few games to F up their draft position.

For me, it has nothing to do with forgiveness - that implies we are still looking at things from the "jilted lover" perspective. I think what happened is different: when Favre left the Packers and was no longer the object of our blind devotion, a more objective assessment of him as a football player became possible. One in which his faults (on and off the field) finally factored into the equation.

I look back at Favre and see a very good player. He was one of the forces that rescued the Packers from a few decades of irrelevance (the tail end of which I am old enough to remember).

I also look back and see a guy who was always more image than substance - his personality and media image always obscured his actual achievements and flaws on the field. Many of his records are volume stats mirrored by equally embarrassing negative ones (total TD passes/interceptions). His longevity is obviously amazing but things become less impressive when you start looking at individual seasons.

Aaron Rodgers has a career QB rating of 96.9. Favre had only a single year out of 16 with the Pack above that number! For a guy who is still considered by his loyal believers to be the greatest QB of all-time, that alone is mind-boggling.

People often fixate on how the Packers didn't do a good job of surrounding Favre will talent during large parts of his career. I think the opposite is also true: Favre was fortunate enough to walk into a situation that was ideal for him. The Packers had one of the best GM's in the league and a top notch coach. Most importantly, he played in a city with football-crazed fans who had just gone through their football dark ages: we were eager for a savior. The fact that Favre was worshiped like a god here no doubt factored into his reputation nationally. Would it have been the same elsewhere?

When you start factoring in the playoff meltdowns and off the field antics (could care less about his personal life, I mean the bickering with coaches, being meddlesome with the GM, holding the team hostage for years with threats of retirement etc), it is pretty hard to not come to the conclusion that he is one of the most overrated NFL players of the last 20 years. Again, I'm not doubting that the guy was a very good player. One of all-time great Packers, duh. But he was as much a media/fan creation as anything else. Often more myth than man.

Yeah, he sucked earlier but has been decent in the very limited time we've seen him since Favre came around. If I'm Minny, I say screw Favre and see if Jackson has anything at all before letting him walk.

I went with the give him a few years and all will be forgotten. I think I'm like more fans when I say that my feeling for Favre have gone from Love to Hate to almost feeling sorry for him. Don't get me wrong, I was cheering hardcore against him yesterday and want him to lose every game so long as he's a Viking. I just see a sad old man who is kind of lost.

I think that after he retires his marrige is going to fall apart and he is going to go broke and turn into a Jeff Bridges Crazy Heart kind of guy. Wait and see, there will be a movie. I'm just hoping that is isn't going to be on Lifetime.

One thing I will never forget is his attempt to sabotage the Packers by calling Matt Millen a couple of weeks before the Packers played the Lions. That is what really caused me to lose a lot of respect for Favre.

I'm a minority when it comes to Favre: I've disliked him as a player since the late 90s so my feelings of him really haven't changed in the last couple of years. I even had several conversations with my friends about trading him in 2006. I think he's probably one of the most overrated athletes during my lifetime. Good regular season quarterback but terrible in the playoffs when it matters the most. I will always remember him as the guy who committed too many turnovers, often put himself ahead of his teammates, and was unable to find consistent playoff success.

The one thing I will remember fondly about him is his ability to play through various injuries; the consecutive game streak is one of the most impressive things any athlete has ever accomplished.

Give me a few years and when he gets his number retired, I'll be ready to forgive him then and there. The guy was the reason why I became a Packer fan growing up and he became my most hated athlete in all of sports the last couple of seasons.

Now, if he won a Super Bowl with Minnesota last year, I would have never forgiven him. Thank God that never happened.

I think most Packers fans will be like me and put everything behind them in 2-3 years. The real question is, what will Viking fans think of him when he hangs it up for good?
