GT: Magic vs. Spurs

Post#1 » by Nolan » Sun Nov 21, 2010 8:14 pm

When: 8:30 PM ET, November 20, 2010
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX

Image

VS

Image

Starting Lineups:

Magic:
PG - Jameer Nelson
SG - Vince Carter
SF - Quentin Richardson
PF - Rashard Lewis
C - Dwight Howard

Spurs:
PG - Tony Parker
SG - Manu Ginobli
SF - Richard Jefferson
PF - Tim Duncan
C - Dejuan Blair

The Magic are going to be a tough matchup for us on Monday night. Containing Dwight Howard is and closing out on shooters is going to be the keys to winning this game. We can't let D12 dominant us in the paint and its going to take a team effort to stop him from doing that. On the offensive end we need to drive and kick and do our best at getting Howard into foul trouble.

Other than Anderson being out for us no other injuries to report on.

Go Spurs!!

The Magic are extremely good on set offense. In fact, they trust their half court offense so much, that they are scoring the lowest amount of points on the fast break. only 8 pts per game. Usually you will say a team not scoring on the fast break is a lousy defensive rebound team, but the Magic are the best in that category(along with the Bucks), so their half court game is from choise, they are just so good with it.

Interestingly enough, they shoot to the basket 76 times a game(3rd lowest), but are ranked first in 3 point attempts, which mean they are shooting 1 three on every 2 two point attempts. Just for comparison, the spurs shoot 1 three on every 3 two point attempts.

They are a very good half court team, so in order to beat them we have to make it a running game. 3 keys for the game:

1. Rebound on defense and run
2. Good rotation on defense
3. Keep them off the free throw line

Good luck guys, can't wait for a real test. Magic have had an easy schedule so far and the few good teams they played they didn't fare too well.

Love the SA -Orl games. Usually pretty competetive.
I would wish you luck but that goes against my better judgment.

Orlando up at the half and us winning the game would be very beneficial to me financially.

Go team.

Yeah GL, our schedule has been fairly light on as well and you guys are our biggest test of the season to date.

Dammit, Lewis is off to a good start. He's going to be a tough matchup for us.

I was worried we couldn't get to the rim today cause of Dwight. Good to see it's not affecting Tony.

He's got to deal with Dwight the whole game. We got no one to guard Dwight.

Dice is doing a decent job on Howard so far.

I think we're going to have to go to the hack a Howard later in the game. We just can't stop him in the paint.

I wanted Splitter to get on the floor now that Dwight is on the bench, but with the way Dice is defending and Bonner is shooting, forgetttt thattt!!!

I just looked at Bonner's stats. He's shooting 64% from 3 this year!!
