LMAO that's just a NY thing I grew up on Long Island and when I went to school in Manhattan my frat brothers called me country boy.

I've lived in a lot of places and while I'll always hold NY dear to my heart small town people have a charm about them. So I wish you well.

And on that note you wouldn't believe the amount of people I run into that think NY is the city period. It's a big state and twenty miles out and up for as far as it goes is beautiful country. Some of the best we have anywhere. I used to go camping up there when I was a kid and those hicks were alright.

Also, kind of in the same vein I guess West Virginia catches a lot of crap but next to Utah it is the most stunning place I have ever seen. Just breathtaking. Delaware is an underrated place to live IMO too, the people were the best I've seen anywhere. Very diverse and everyone so polite and caring.

Depends actually -- the league's hard line could really help us because if they are looking to reduce all contracts, no matter whether they're signed or not, then Melo would get no protection or advantage from signing now.

He could be stuck on the Nets (for instance) with the same contract he would have to play for the Knicks.

In the event of a lockout, Melo doesn't have to opt out of the final year of his contract, so it won't really affect him if there is a lockout or not.

Upstate New York is the best. And I never considered myself upstate until I went to Uni with city folk.

I still would bet anything that he's going to the Knicks - either before the deadline or this summer. That's where he wants to go and he's rooster-blocking the other options. Now, New Jersey could Godfather offer Denver (the trade I mentioned in last week's column) and basically hope he'll re-sign there... it's possible.

And if Chicago put Luol Deng, Taj Gibson (who's turned into a legitimately good player), $3 million and a couple of No. 1 picks on the table, I think Denver would have to consider it. (And so would Melo). But I'd make the odds like this...

So I was driving home from school today for Thanksgiving and I was listening to WFAN. Mike Fatcessa, who is the king of pessimism, thinks there is gonna be a trade between now and new years having Melo land with the Knicks. I know it means nothing and it's just his opinion, but, him saying that made me feel good about our chances.
