Ray McCallum Jr looks like a blue chipper and it'll be interesting to see his development in his freshmen season

We definitely need a center as well but getting a center doesn't equate to getting better defensively. You can get a great PG and become better defensively. Stopping the PG is one of the most important things in basketball. Making it difficult for them to initiate the offense works wonders.

Ray McCallum is an interesting guy though don't think he comes out of Detroit early. Real athletic kid. Had a lot of offers but decided to stay at home and play for his father. At one point it looked like he was better than Irving like 2+ years ago.

Theres a very good chance we might end up with a wing player....

Which means Kleiza and Barbosa aren't gonna be here for awhile.

Then you have the Scoring PG's like Walker and Knight that are redundant to Bayless
but have a higher ceiling most likely.

Kanter..um, we have Bargs and Davis. Our needs are PG and SF, Irving and ...if we don't end up with 1st pick (Barnes or Jones), and fall out of top 5 pick, I'd like us having TJ, he would be a solid all around sf for us, a guy who can shoot the 3's, grab rebounds and pass the ball well too.

We need a C, probably just as much as we need a PG. Reggie most likely won't be here past this season and our defense is still ranked 26th.

Actually, I think we need a C more than we need a PG.

A C maybe not this year's draft, there's just so many good versatile forward options in the draft this year to choose from. Kanter looks good but I rather get an athletic shot-blocking C (if we tank for another season for draft 2012, have y'all seen Andre Drummond, that dude is a man-child!

not feeling Harrison Barnes.... this draft is looking pretty thin.

He reminds me of Marvin Williams

Another stinker for Barnes....

8 points on 3-12 shooting

He did have 8 rebounds though....

Maybe he's gonna drop like DeRozan did and we'll pick him up with a late lottery pick.

Haven't seen Kentucky yet. Haven't seen Vesely this year. I always liked Walker, but I dunno, I want to see him shoot this well all year.

I've only watched bits and pieces of these guys so far this year, but I'm inclined to agree on Irving, Barnes and Jones. Beyond the fact that it would be nice to finally get a true star point guard, I think Irving has a decent shot at being the best NBA player out of those three guys.

Raptors Draft according to NbaDraft.net...

Post#593 » by alfie123 » Mon Nov 29, 2010 6:20 pm

So was bored at work, thought this would be a funny post for a Monday.

With the Raptors recent mediocrity it seems as though the top pick is slipping out of our hands.
Looking on NBAdraft.Net it seems as though we slipped down to 7.

Upon further investigation I also noticed that the player listed is an Intenational.

Donatas Motiejunas - NBA Comparison: Andrea Bargnani!

Weaknesses: Is extremely talented and he knows it. At times he doesn't keep the pedal to the metal, exhibiting some lapses in focus and intensity (laziness) in practices ... Sometimes appears content to be better than others without dominating them the way he's capable ... That's the type of thing that he'll need to mature out of, learning to work hard at all times in order to reach the stature of a Gasol or Nowitzki ... Still needs to add polish on his moves on the perimeter but has excellent potential to do so ... Has thin arms and upperbody, although he has solid strength. He'll need to get stronger to contend with NBA bigs ... Solid length (6-11 wingspan) but nothing extraordinary ... Not as experienced or established as other European talents (such as Gasol or Nowitzki) were when they entered the NBA.

Is it meant to be??? Is BC getting slightly more wins in order to draft a Bargnani clone?

I think Donatas will likely end up being drafted in the 10-15 range. There's a lot of freshmen prospects who would be drafted higher than him this year (Barnes/P.Jones/Irving/T.Jones/Knight/Selby/Kanter). I also think players like Valanciunas/Vesely would probably get drafted ahead of Donatas.

What could be even more fun/insane is if we pass on Donatas and he becomes the best player from his draft.

Can you even imagine the chaos on this board?

I think this site might crash if that happened.

I'm starting to think we will need the first overall pick to nab Irving.
