Terrence Williams seems to be on the hot seat

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Thu Nov 25, 2010 9:58 pm

New Jersey appears to be open to moving Terrence Williams, so are any of you interested? I'm open to it depending on what New Jersey is seeking in return.

I want him!!! I dont care what they want. Just do something.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

I wanted him in the draft so definitely. Trade Teague for him straight up, Jamal mans the backup point anyway and TWill is a point forward himself. He would help solve our perimeter D issues and keep our PG situation status quo so why not?

Terrance Williams could be the worst offensive perimeter player in the NBA.

Terrence Williams is like a wing version of Smoove.

And does he really play defense ?
Because no block and no steal is suspect. Maybe he only play team defense and does it well, but it's kind of a surprise to see no block and no steal at all.
On the other hand, he put some games with a lot of assists, but if he only think about offense, no need for him.

Blocks and steals aren't emblematic of defense otherwise Iverson and Arenas would of won quite a few DPOY awards. Also if you are going to go that route then you might as well include rebounds because they are also a boxscore measure of defense.
Plenty could say that his defense is far ahead of his offense even though he's going to struggle as much as any rookie or second year guy in the league will with that aspect given the difference in playcalling and physicality. He's rather raw offensively mainly because he doesn't know his limits with the ball by forcing passes or shots but you'd expect that would calm down. Either way, I see him as an upgrade over Teague just given his poise on the court alone, he actually looks as if he believes he belongs out there.

I have no idea why you guys think he could be a PG. He can't. His handles are decent for a forward, but he is most definitely a forward. You wouldn't want Lamar Odom to be your full-time PG, and there's no reason you'd ask Terrence Williams, who's worse across the board in every attribute other than freakish athleticism and dunking, to run the point.

Not exactly sure who said they wanted him as a PG yet alone a fulltime one but seeing as my post is the closest I guess I'll address it and clarify:
Teague is not our backup PG.
Okay, with me so far?
Jamal is our backup PG and when Teague is in the game he acts as a secondary ballhandler to Jamal, Bibby, Joe and now even Jordan.
Now here's where I might of lost you.
Terrence Williams already operates as a secondary ballhandler that can play point forward in a pinch therefore trading the expendable Teague for a player that will not disrupt the construction of the roster AND help shore up other areas of the roster is a good idea to me.
You may have misconstrued my post by thinking I wanted him as a pg because I want to trade Teague for him but I never saw Teague as a PG to begin with.

T-Will has been sent to the D-League after being late for a couple practices. I just wanted to update the situation and let it be known that NJ has never put him on the trade block.

True, but the more problems he causes, or the more he acts like "he doesn't get it", the more likely he is to be traded.

I don't know if anyone else watched the guy in his rookie season, but the few games I saw him in, he was a near triple double guy. He's supremely talented, he's already a better player than Marvin, and I wouldn't be against say... Joe Johnson + Marvin + Teague/bibby for Williams + Lopez <<< Highly unlikely and salaries probably don't match, but I would LOVE it

Putting together a good April on a crap team that hands you 35-40 minutes a game in April isn't that difficult. His rookie year as a whole was subpar for a 4 year college player and he's been terrible to start this year.

Never wanted to say that block and steal were telling you if the player defends or not, exactly like rebounds won't tell you the whole story if you are the player boxing out.
I just thought "no steal and no block" was strange, that's all, because it's the first time I see that for a guy supposed to be a good defender.
