Very good signing for Detroit. Martinez is an upgrade over Gerald Laird, he is the lefty bat the Tigers wanted for Cabby, and he won't be depended on alot behind the plate with Alex Avila being a very good defensive catcher.

Tigers have been very aggressive early in free agency.... can't wait to see who they go after next.

Martinez can be replaced in Boston. I'm not too worried about it. If they can get offense at first or left field then they can go with Salty/Tek combo behind the plate.

Napoli is a bad catcher, so I don't see him as an option. I guess if they couldn't find a third/first baseman then he could be an option. Sure not for Bard tho.

Varitek is still a free agent, however I wouldn't be surprised if they give him the same deal they did after last season.
