Bynum Injury Talk - "i'm definitely playing tomorrow"

Post#1 » by dockingsched » Tue Nov 23, 2010 7:15 am

Bynum said he'll undergo an MRI exam on his right knee Tuesday and with medical clearance will then begin jumping and lateral movements.

He said, however, he will not join team practice for a week or two weeks after that.

Lakers coach Phil Jackson had projected a Dec. 10 return for Bynum, but his recent comments indicate a return around Dec. 17 is more likely.

"It's not a good feeling, but at the end of the day, I have to be healthy for the long term," Bynum said. "My career is still young, and I want to be able to play as many years as possible."

Bynum said he is feeling no pain in his right knee, which underwent July 28 surgery to reattach torn meniscus.

Oh, man ! It's really getting annoying ! Everytime he gets hurt, the term when he is expected back, it is postponed.

It's the 3rd year in a row he's had a serious injury. In fact, that's the price of the title, 'cause if he opted for an injury during the playoffs, he could've been 100 % healthy by now, but most probably without a ring.

Let's wait. But it's really getting frustrating.

This is really annoying, but at the same time what is the rush? We are playing amazing right now (could use a little more D) but we're winning. We may be undefeated right now if he were here from the start, but at what expense? I'm not sure he would have made it until June, and had he done the surgery last year, we wouldn't be defending champs. Take your time Drew, get healthy and as long as your back in time for the Miami beat down on X-mas and play injury free for the rest of the season I'm happy. Let's not do the whole Portland thing and rush this man back for the sake of the fans

It's only annoying because you guys have no patience, bottom line is the doctors set the time table. Drew is just throwing dates out.

Lakers' Andrew Bynum has MRI
November 23, 2010 | 5:59 pm

Lakers center Andrew Bynum, who still is recovering from right knee surgery that has kept him out all season, had an MRI Tuesday that showed the procedure he had last July went well, a Lakers' spokesman said.

The Lakers said nothing has changed with the results from the surgery. Bynum has said he'll will return to practice in a week or two.

"He remains back on track," Lakers public relations director John Black said.

Bynum, who had surgery to repair a torn cartilage in his knee, will continue to get therapy and see how his progress goes.

He has been cleared to jump and dunk, but now Bynum expects to be able to do some lateral movement drills.

Well the Heat signed Eric Dampier. So he is off the rumor chat. Hope we have all we need to go as far as we can. He would have been a nice insurance policy..

He’s also slated to be back in the starting lineup which moves Odom back to the bench. I question this. The offense was very average as a whole last year when ‘Drew and Gasol played alongside each other. For whatever reason, Pau couldn’t hit his jumper when Andrew was on the low block. Passing wasn’t as good. They also make the Lakers a VERY SLOW defensive transition team. He’d make a GREAT anchor for that second unit which struggles to create offense.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- In Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum's first full-contact on-court workout Saturday, he leaned on an old friend -- literally.

Bynum participated in half-court drills and banged bodies with Lakers backup center Derrick Caracter, who despite being a rookie is only six months younger than the sixth-year veteran. The two played prep basketball against each another in their home state of New Jersey.

Now Bynum is prepping to make his return from offseason surgery on his right knee and his rehab is in the home stretch.

"I want to [return] midway through December," Bynum said. "Hopefully, that's two weeks. It's looking more like a little bit later, probably. I have these two weeks here, then a week of practice. Realistically I'm looking at three weeks."....

I'm very encouraged by what I saw in the video, like I said it's no need to rush things. Drew also looks a lot stronger in the upper body which will bode well in the paint for him.

Lastly to all who have this fantasy of Drew coming off the bench...........Kill that DREAM it's over. It's not happening. Pau will still be just as effective with Drew. Pau's problems last season stemmed from his summer time play with his national team, he was gassed even before he got tho camp. Pau not "hitting" his jumper had absolutely nothing to do with Drew.

Some here completely fail to realize what a treasure it is for Pau to have Drew by his side, he even says so himself. With all the Pau/Drew debates we've had here I'm willing to bet Pau himself will think more than half here are delusional to think he doesn't need Drew.

Take ya time big fella, hell he could come back on Christmas for all I care. We'd still wreck the Heat.

Hopefully he didn't pack on too much weight, he doesn't need the pressure on his knees.
