Yzerman

More cups, more points, and he turned the dead things into the red wings.

Wow that is a tough call. They are both such great hockey players. I really can't vote on this... I feel they are of equal stature.

Stevie Y for me but I am very biased since Yzerman is my favourite player.

He's did alot for the Wings, Sakic is a great player and a future HOf'er but Yzerman's numbers are a little better and he did has a 155 (60 goals and 95 assists) point season in 1988-1989. Highest single point total in a season by somebody not named Gretzky or Lemieux.

I have to take Stevie Y basically because he turned the Red wings franchise around. He has won more cups, scored more goals and has more points.

Haha I don't think that was an option MAS!!! But i see where you are coming from. It took a while for me to choose between the two. Both of them have done so much for their respected franchises

Stevie Y by a nose. Just an all around great player and person. He saved hockey in Detroit.

Sakic. Only because i think he is a bit more of a leader than Stevie. Stevie always seemed to me to be very shy.

Wasnt a leader? He was "The Captain." Just because he wasnt overtly emotional always doesnt mean he didnt lead, because trust me, he was the definition of a leader.

This is a comparison I've thought quite a bit about in the past, and Stevie Y has to be the answer here. How many times has Sakic topped 150 points?

Stevie was definitely a good leader, never said he wasn't, but i'd prefer Sakic type.

Sakic's the better player, but I'd take Yzerman because of everything he brought off the ice.

I have to go with Steve even though I like both.

The man was the king of captains and completely reshaped his game to not only win but prolong his career. Steve was a superstar that would block shots and that is big in my books.

Way to go Steve!

I went with Sakic because I always found he stepped up his game more than anyone else in the playoffs. Yzerman was remarkably consistant regular season to playoffs.

Who had the better career?

Yzerman won a Lester Pearson (OP should've mentioned this)

Sakic won a Hart and a Lester Pearson
