offense has to go

Post#1 » by Sharcm1 » Mon Nov 29, 2010 2:54 am

this offense is horrible. All they do is high pick and roll over and over again and wind up going one on one with 8 seconds left. It's totally (Please Use More Appropriate Word). Far too often they just dribble up top around screens and get trapped by the defense. Or they run a post play for lopez that gets him the ball with 8 seconds left when he was open posted on the other side of the floor with 20 seconds left but they had to run the play.

they have no imagination. They can't change it up ever. It's like they have to run the play and they play isn't getting them anywhere.

This is not the offense for this team. they need a post offense with a mix of motion to get people open.

That's what happens when you have 1 player on your team that knows how to dribble.

Exactly. Any time Devin isn't on the court, we risk Morrow dribbling it off of his foot, or Farmar just not knowing what the hell to do and jacking up a 3 once the time runs down. I don't know if a different kind of offense is the answer. But considering the results we're having, i guess it couldn't hurt. The question is, what could we possibly do? It looks like we try to get some motion going off the ball, but we don't have the passers to actually get the ball to a cutter inside on a consistent basis. So... I dunno. That's why we need a superstar wing.

I don't something else. Once harris goes to the bench the offense stands still. Makes you miss williams. For all the mistakes he makes he can run an offense and pass. Not like harris doesn't make a lot of mistakes also. So stupid. But what ever they have this team.

But this team can't score consistently. Far too often I see in the first half of games half the possessions go to brook in the post and he either gets fouled or scores and then in the second half it stops. Why? If it works keep doing it till they stop it. I just don't understand that. The best offense they have is brook in the post. All I see them doing is going the other way when he has good post position. Probably because they can't make an entry pass or because Harris thinks he is the man and tells brook to come set the pick for him that usually leads to nothing. something needs to change.

As a Mavs fan, I'm sorry to tell you but Avery has always been a terrible offensive coach. He had a team with Devin Harris, Jason Terry, Josh Howard, and Dirk Nowitzki and he couldn't come up with an offensive gameplan against the Golden State Warriors.

There is a lot of truth to this, especially with Brook, but some of that migh thave to do with the double and how comfortable the Nets are with him passing out of it...I agree though, he shouldnt disappear from one half to the next despite this...but we are playing with what we got...all I can say is be patient, this team is brand new, young and dumb so to speak...this is where we hoped Williams would flourish...
