He's just not a banger and doesn't like to bang with anyone who is bigger than him.
It's common in the game of basketball.

That's like if Kobe was to bang with Small Forwards who are bigger and stronger than him for 82 games.
He wouldn't be able to play a single game in the playoffs.

We can get away with Pau playing center for different stretches like that 9-0 road trip we had in 2009 . Were we beat both the Celtics and the leagues best Cavs on back to backs.

17 games in and Pau already looks exhausted playing the center.
Hence the word "LOOKS"
Losing Theo really affected the balance.

At this point I think Phil needs to break his normal routine and he needs to give D.C more minutes .

This. Great post and pretty much sums up our problems. Center depth was always the glaring weakness in our armor and teams get that now.

If Buss is going to cheap out on signing some big for the minimum and PJ doesn't trust DC at center (which he should be playing either) then we're going to lose a few games. That's the risk the Lakers are taking right now.

Buss is betting that Bynum will get back before heavy minutes get Lamar or Pau injured and that we don't drop too far in the standings.

IMO, it's a dangerous game. Paying 90 million and being reluctant to drop what amounts to a turd in the bucket to keep his larger investment healthy and rolling.

Oh well, the man's The Man. His dice to roll.

On another note...what happened to our perimeter defense being physical? I'm sort of hoping to see some more of the crazies. We need more Ron Ron. Kobe looked like the only guy playing with fire out there.

What are you mental or something? Or just mad? I don't recall anyone (including me) writing that Hibbert has done whatever he wanted against the Lakers before. But he did score 19 points coming off the bench last season when the teams played in Indiana. And he scored going one-on-one against Gasol and Bynum. Period.

No, my post is in response to the idiotic and erroneous post about Gasol owning Hibbert every time the two teams played previously. That simply wasn't true. Get your facts right. And what would be the big deal if a high draft pick and All-Star like Gasol had dominated a "nobody" like Hibbert during Hibbert's first two years? Isn't Gasol supposed to do that? LMAO. It wouldn't be a big deal even if that had happened. Would it be a big deal if the supposedly new great young superstar center Bynum had fouled out poor, slow Roy Hibbert? Why would itt be if Bynum is all that? Truth is that when Roy is fully engaged Gasol can't stop him in the post. That's the cold reality. Bynum has a better chance at stopping Hibbert inside but unfortunately his fragile ass (might as well call him Mr. Glass) can't play more than 20 games a season it seems.

It's not just that. He also needs to return to the 4. At the beginning of the season when this was being said most guys didn't want to face this. I truly believe if Pau was logging these minute at the 4 you wouldn't see as much fatigue. He's not a banger plain & simple & it is catching up to him just as predicted.

pretty sure we're all lakers fans here. this whole "gasol defenders" or "bynum brigade" stuff is really annooooying.

+1

This whole Gasol/Bynum debate has gotten childish and doesn't do anything but alienate fans and worse, puts Lakers fans against each other. What's the point of rubbing it in when either Gasol or Bynum play bad?

Anyway, we really should have kept MBenga. Our FC depth is really hurting us right now, and we're just wearing Pau out in the middle. We already know he's not a banger and I do believe he's getting a bit worn out. I'm a little disappointed with Phil's management of his minutes. He needs to give him more rest earlier in the ball game so that he has his legs later on.

Tonight we failed as a team and there is plenty of blame to go around. Everyone came out with half-assed effort and it ended up biting us in the ass. At this point I'm very disappointed that we've managed to already lose 2 home games. Home court advantage is vital and we need to play every game like it matters. People need to stop overlooking the Spurs. When they are healthy, they are a very dangerous team and are fully capable of taking us out.

Ron or Odom should've taken the 3 instead of wasting all that time looking for Kobe. Yes I know how clutch Kobe is but you gota have confidence in yourself as well, instead they gave it to kobe like 40ft away and forced him to take that deep 3.

Hey hey don't encourage Sapuro or we'll have to remind him of his previous views on the peerless Drew Gooden.

That was Ron's screw up. There was absolutely no reason to dump the ball into Odom when we needed a 3-pointer to tie the game. All he did was waste clock which ended up forcing Kobe to take an extremely low percentage shot.

I didn't watch but I knew we lost when I saw that Kobe had 40 points he shouldn't have to do that with the talent on this team, I'm not freaking out because the Lakers coast through the regular season but come on the Pacers..
