Post#1 » by dozencousins » Mon Nov 29, 2010 10:32 pm

According to JASON JONES at SACBEE.COM at his twitter page area it says COUSINS was kicked out of practice ! I wonder why ?
This to me is very concerning !

If anyone has the answer as to why & not speculation please fill us all in .

Tweets from Scott Howard-Cooper

# Another, asked to rank rookie bigs Griffin, Favors, Cousins: “It’s really close between two of them. I definitely don’t take the other guy.” less than 20 seconds ago via TweetDeck

# Rest of the league is not surprised. Some execs/scouts torched Cousins to me recently. Said one: “I wouldn’t want to coach him." 5 minutes ago via TweetDeck

# More issues for immature DeMarcus Cousins. Per @mr_jasonjones, Paul Westphal boots Cousins from practice. Westphal does not say why.

Don't waste time reading too much into this. More than likely he let his immaturity get the best of him and had to be sent to the showers to cool him down. He hasn't demonstrated yet that he can handle frustration well..."kicking him out of practice" is one way to mature him.

Well hopefully this kind of thing helps the team instead of just screwing it all up further.

I was monitoring his facial expressions during the Bulls game. He looked extremely pissed off the whole time and seemed to be completely disgusted with his teammates after turnovers and when they didn't give him the ball. I find it hard to be mad at that though, because (1) he should have the ball in his hands more than most of our guys, (2) the calls against him were the epitome of phantom fouls, and (3) I was disgusted at the team's play too. He did have the one wild spin move where the ball flew out of bounds by no fault of anyone but him, but I can't hate on the guy.

Well that blows. This, if anything, is what can keep him from being a very good to great player. This news is worse than any statistical slump, far as I'm concerned. Some of this was certainly to be expected, though, you just gotta hope he grows out of it.

I would still draft Cousins at the spot we drafted him. Unless your already a championship level team you draft for the long term potential over the short term struggles.

IMO Cousins didn't have the sort of support structure, stability, and mentors growing up to come in ready to handle the stress and day-to-day pressure of being an NBA player. He is just not there yet in terms of his development as a player and as a person. No one can say for certain when or if he will ever turn the corner, but it is way too early for people to make their judgments. Of course that won't stop anyone from doing just that or keep the media from continuing their "character risk" attack routine on him.

cousins needs to learn a lesson. this guy is not taking NBA seriously and he mite fall flat on his face and turn to be the JaMarcus Russell of the NBA. He is making plenty of mistakes out there which are all his fault, i get the fact that his young and he is learning but there no reason to argue with coaches when they are tying to teach you. They have been in the league long enough to know what they are talking about. He wanted to prove everybody wrong, but right now everybody was right about him and his personality.

His coach back in Kentucky: JC said that Cousins isn't afraid to be honest and question back to coaches if he thinks they are in the wrong. He speaks his mind and say what he thinks is right.

This attitude is both good and bad. The good: it shows competitiveness & not being passive in general. The bad: (specifically towards Cousins): He is not at the stage that he can argue with coaches numerous of times considering the fact that he is a rookie.

I'm sure Cousins isn't the only one frustrated about the season (worst start of any season for the Kings in the last 17 years iirc), lost the 10 of the last 11 games etc etc.

We all know that this is all expected. Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Hopefully, it's only a normal argument between Westphal & Cousins.

Maybe this is a good thing. He lacks discipline and I think this helps his maturity issues. He's gotta learn some how right?

But I do have to admit... this is a little concerning. Especially for a young team like the Kings.

Did the Kings make a mistake? Absolutely not, IMO. They knew his rep and drafted him with their eyes wide open. They're willing do what it takes to mold him into the player he has the potential to be. The last thing they are going to do is bail on him this early in his rookie season. Short of a team offering up the reincarnation of Karl Malone, Cousins is staying put.

It wasn't a mistake to draft Cousins. Cousins is an immature player, but that isn't something that should prevent us from taking him. If anything this just means that we need to make sure we keep him in hand and make sure he grows up in the league and learns to do it right. He still has all the talent in the world give him coaching, give him guidance, and recognize that he will have these flare ups because he is a passionate guy.

The very best thing that he and the coaches can do is not take these situations personally. If cousins blows up yells and the coach kicks him out and then cousins shows up ready for the next practice then I don't see a problem.

Very interested to hear whatever details may come out of this situation. If it's a simple lack of maturity that's a shame.

Very dangerous times. The two players we're relying on to right this ship are NOT happy. Not good at all.

Once again, I'd be very interested to see what the circumstances were. It not just Cousins that clearly frustrated with the way things are going if that has anything to do with it.
