2 big news stories today

of course im excited to get Cody Zeller in the mix!! He and Parea are a pair of 5star bigmen in which indiana basketball has not had for a long long time (patterson was the man fyi in the day)

The 2 also are great complements of eachother so I am very excited about the prospects in the next 5-6 years of them playing together.

As I look at the roster there is definitly an odd man out now and it is likely Derek Elston. If he does not become a 8-10ppg 5-6rpg player this year then he should transfer because he will not get more mins after this year unless he erupts. Pritchard is already our backup center to Capo and Elston is a high energy 4 man or a stretch 4 as he can really shoot it too.

Other news is that Kanter ruled not to play... This is huge. Kentucky was going to win 24-28 games with him and now I think they look like a 22-11 team to be honest. They need him and the year not in ky for Kanter may really hurt his stock as a lotto pick...

I have a question. now that he is ruled out does he have the oportunity to play in europe for this year and enter the draft on summer.

Yes he can, but unlikely. He'll work out well but without the high competition over time it will at best still hurt him from say 5-7 to late lotto to mid teens in my best guess. He is a big man with a lot of experience so he is still in good light though.

Well I highly doubt that a ready bodied big man with his skill and overseas experience would drop below 20 but you never know. If I had to guess right now I'd say instead of 2-5 he would be drafted in that 10-13 range. He is a ready rebounder and tough guy that can score when he needs to so I doubt it. We need a perimeter player that can get his own shot. James Anderson type that slips down to us in the mid to late 20s (hoping).

Royce White to sit out a year for transfer... So that means alot more time for Ejim!! White is a beast of a player and will be one of the best players when he players for Fred the Mayor in 2011-2012.

Alot of the freshman are playing well, sullinger's debut along with Thomas was impressive. Irving and Curry are really good for Duke Day 1 as expected. Indiana off to a 3-0 start against scrub teams and Watford carrying us at about 19 and 8.

In order of scoring...

Ive been impressed with irving, jones, and sullinger on the frosh sides while jimmer continues to kill it and I called it on Chris Singleton having a monster year...

Tristian playing well to begin with but my man corey joseph playing timid and scared and not finding his place so far

Watched alot of the illini games and I got to say richmond is real good! IU 6-0 against scrub teams lol but ill take it!!

just wanted to add that indiana and illinois have both just killed it in recruiting!!!!

Indiana is on the best recruiting role I've ever seen in my 29 years of being obsessed with them;

Coming in...

2011
5star PF-C Cody Zeller
4star SG-SF Austin Etherington

2012
5star PF Hanner Perea
4star PG Yogi Ferrell
4star SG Ron Patterson
3star C Peter Jurkin

2013
4star SF Devin Davis
4star SF Collin Hartman

2014
5star PG James Blackmon
4star PF Trey Lyles

To have your entire commit list basically done for the next 4 years is insane... The fact that these are all IE guys is just amazing!!!

2 years ago Illini scored with BP, Richardson, Griffey

Illinois had an insane class come in this year with Richmond, Leonard, Head all of which can play right away and then this run is maybe even better...

2011
4star C Nnanna Egwu
4star PG Tracy Abrams
4star PF Mike Shaw
4star SF Mychael Henry

those 3 classes and IU's recent run of commits makes me think that these two are destined to be atop the big ten for quite some time (esp because i dont see purdue, wisc, etc getting the best recruits in)

I am a die hard UK fan and I would like to offer up some insight on UK prospects. But I know Cal and UK might not be the most popular topic so I figured I ask before my UK love fest begins.

Not only that but you have Teague who is actually ranked higher than Gilchrist. But Gilchrist is ready to be a superstar the sky's the limit for that guy. Add the fact that we have two more 5 stars (one who is number 6) and I agree that this is Cal's best class yet.

This year though there are some intriguing prospects for UK.

Brandon Knight- This guys is the next great Cal PG. He's long, fast, athletic, and quick. And while he's no John Wall in any of those categories he's still plenty athletic. He has a great attitude and wants to work hard. And while he's not a great passer (yet) I think the offense is running as well this year as it ever did last year (we never really had it we would just use our talent to win). He a pretty good defender but has always guarded the weaker of the two back court player because our SG LIggens is a great defender. Makes a lot of "freshman" mistakes. Doesn't have a great feel for the nuances of the college game yet but that comes in time. But man can he score. Great slasher and a better shot then reported. He seems to leave everything short when he misses though.

Terrance Jones- This guy is special. He has the most skill for a big man I have seen for a long time. Great handles, great touch, good footwork, good shot, hustles, plays with a emotions, gets a lot of steals and blocks. But he's 6'7. They say in the games he's 6'8 or 6'9 but I'd love to see him measured at the combined because I don't think he's far above 6'7. Because really that's the guys only major flaw. Good rebounder, good defender, good scorer, plays the game the right way but he's too short for a PF and he doesn't have the game of a SF. It will be interesting to see what Cal does with him over the year to get him ready for the NBA. Cal tries to always work on one thing with these guys to get them ready for the pros. Last year it was Cousins temper, Patterson's shot, Wall's passing etc.

Doron Lamb- Personally I love this guy. I don't think he'll be a one and done guy I'll think he'll stick around a few years. Has a such a sweet stroke and can make a shot even if off balanced. He's not close to a finished product but has shown flashes of being a great scorer already. He can slash and has play the back up PG role off the bench so he has good handles as well. Doesn't have great size for a SG but has a enough athletic ability to get his shot off. He's already improved as a defender but still takes a lot of gambles on defense. Gets stupid fouls sometimes or puts up a shot too early but that comes early in the year with being a freshman.

Darius Miller- My dark horse and wildcard for this UK team. He's a junior so he's not one of Cal's one and done guys. And Unless he has a great year I don't see him leaving (even with Gilchrist coming in). But I am telling you this guy can score on anyone in the country. He's got a good floater, is a great slasher, great handles, and a very nice shot. Has got good size and athleticism (has to add strength though) and is a very good defender. Sounds like he should be a lotter pick then right? He has one major flaw. No killer instinct at all. You though Loul disappears? This guys is worse. He's got no warriors mentality to just jam it down a defender throat when he has the mismatch. Cal see's it too and he tries with Darius but its just not there. If he can ever get that mentality he'll be a great prospect to watch (I mean which is possible look how Cal turned around Liggens).

Other UK players that could be possible draft picks in the future: DeAndre Liggens Jr. SG, Stacey Poole Fr. SG, Enes Kanter (if he ever plays) Fr. C, the next batch of one and dones.

against okl and uconn knight was 7-30 from the field and 2-16 from 3pt but to top it off he is 12-21 from the FREE throw line on the year

then he has this which is so horrible it isn't even funny; 4.6 TOs a game to 2.8apg.... from your leader.

IMO he has been a terrible player so far this year mixed in with some tremendous shot making ability... IF TJ didnt blow up they would be a lot worse.

I like Lamb as well, always have. Should be a nice 4 year guy that could be a career 10-12ppg 2 guard that will always be a solid 3rd scorer and maybe more his jr-sr years.

Teague has that rare stop and go, go and stop speed thing that the elites have for sure but I need to see him be a better finisher (indiana native here fyi). I prefer Gilchrist.

Jones has been a monster. He went from fringe prospect to lotto in 2 weeks.

there's Terrence Jones from Kentucky and then the rest of the field. The proverbial man playing with boys.

if you are talking about freshman then you have to include sullinger in that tj mix, because he has been outstanding as well. irving has been great too while zeigler is getting in done at the small school

those are my top fresh so far with tristian doing well against good teams with a nice lefty turnaround and hop jump push hook

jason morris is a fine top 100 recruit for GT but to say that he has been good or anything really is ridiculous considering he is 11-36 on the year and his team lost to kenneshaw by 17 lol,... his 5point/2rebound per game averages do not impress anyone for what is a pretty average to poor team in my opinion
