Re: Jason Thompson is now our starting PF
lol noone's blaming JT or calling him a scrub, grats to him for having a big game. but last year he got 12.5 ppg in 31min, landry's topped that in less min this year, while underachieving wrt his expected upside. and JT was on a team that got the 5th pick last year. you don't extrapolate out of one good game lol, and westphal deserves all the mocking he's gonna get/has gotten for moves like this. you guys have soooooo much talent it's really surprising how bad the team is performing right now. i can maybe see this being a legit move if landry gets moved to the 3 instead of being benched for 8min like last game.

We know.
I was mocking Westphail...not you. I think the problem is trying to find minutes for all these bigs, and I don't care how talented Dalembert may be, but he's 29 and will not be a part of the future. I don't know why we're investing time in him.

Re: Jason Thompson is now our starting PF
Na man, I mean I can only speak for myself here but the actuall call to start JT is a better one for the team IMO.
JT defence and rebounds give us alot more then Landrys points, and Landry is a proven 6th player who comes off the bench and produce his points regardless. We got a problem starting games and JT can help in that.... everything is not about points, and Landry is a black hole whenever he touchs the ball, can't defence and can't rebound, stuff JT can do very well with alot of hustle... JT starting doesn't mean Landry is off to the DNP/10min zone(I hope so lol, with westphal you can't really be sure), he will still get his minutes and produce offence off the bench for us like he did in Houston, atleast thats what we're all hoping for, but JT passing, rebound, hustle and D makes him a better starting matariel.
The reason me and i'm sure everyone pick on Westfail is the way he treats his players and the way he manages the team, like a clueless person throwing everything he can find to the mix and hope he'll get something good out of it.. all the DNP-starter stuff he did, the wierd scrub playing over real rotation players... this guy lost this team confidence and it's preety obviuse to everyone to see.

This is a subtle shot at Westphal. The coach has lost this team, I don't think anyone likes him...except maybe Tyreke.
Well what he's saying is the truth and something I've been saying since day one. Inconsistent minutes breed inconsistent play. If you play consistent minutes and have a consistent role you stand a much better chance of producing consistently. Don't let someones play dictate every second they're on the floor if they're considered a major piece to your team. That just, well...causes situations like the one we're in! hahaha.

Compared to what, JT over Landry? Or JT over Cousins? The latter I agree with, but the former? I don't know, if JT reaches his full potential he's going to be a much better overall player than Landry. We'll see what he can do and if coach will stick with him when "bad JT" shows up.

Re: Jason Thompson is now our starting PF
It's not about the scoring imo. Landry is still going to be in to score but JT will bring more energy and hustle to the starting lineup. If we need more scores in the starting lineup Cousins and Beno would be in there.

I know everyone is already saying this, but this won't matter if JT doesn't put up 20 and 10. Westphal will start him the next two games and then he won't play him the next three. I know the Kings aren't a contender but they should be a LOT better than this. Oh but I agree with everyone that Landry plays better off the bench and JT fits better with the team.

Re: Jason Thompson is now our starting PF
the kings haven't been very good because we have lacked any kind of cohesive offense, and that can be layed at the coaches feet.
1st because the lineups have been extremely inconsistent
2. because there is hardly ever any coherent thought put into the lineups like starting 3 guys who play in the post without putting any shooters around them
3. For not instilling a true offensive system and basically letting guys go out and play isolation basketball
I think starting Thompson is a huge step in the right direction as he is a very good fit with Tyreke and can help spread the floor a bit in the midrange and allow Tyreke more room to work inside. Next move should be to put Casspi back at the starting SF spot but to give Greene plenty of time off the bench in the 2nd unit with Landry and Beno. Go ahead and start Garcia at the 2 guard spot with Tyreke next to him at the 1.
Lineup we should be rolling with in the 1st unit
Evans
Garcia
Casspi
Thompson
Dalembert
our 2nd Unit should look like this
Udrih
Evans
Greene
Cousins
Dalembert
Our 3rd should be
Udrih
Garcia
Greene
Landry
Thompson
and Finally
Udrih
Evans
Casspi
Thompson
Cousins
Those are the only lineups that should really see the floor. An occasional change up for a specific match up is ok but really we need to be focusing on developing chemistry with the guys that I listed.

Thoughts on this trade?
Garcia + Landry for Battier + Jeffries(exp)

thompson doesn't look bad out there, though landry's sucking crack coming off the bench
i still think landry's a better overall player, cause his d didn't suck this bad last year and he's tougher on those hard to get orebs
post game update: yawwp, landry's better lol. he's still too undersized to defend 4 though. do cousins, jt, landry, greene, beno. you have enough bigs to do a triangle well if you want. there, i just saved your season
