Operation for a 'loose object' in his elbow.

Could there be a silver lining to this? Get JC1 on track, get some minutes to JC2 & Teague? Maybe Marvin steps up (he always tends to do better without JJ in the lineup)? Prolly not, but maybe...

This would hurt if I believed this team was a contender. Hopefully we can learn more about some other players while he is out. Time for Drew to experiment.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

This is no doubt a telling point in the Hawks season, how will they compensate for his loss of presence in key moments at the end of close games. Yes, he has been shooting poor this year but now we see the main reason. Who will step up on a nightly basis and fill in?? Marvin, Crawford Part 2?? Powell, Evans?? Since he will be gone until January it will be interesting to see.

I'm more concerned by the fact that our $126 MM man is injured and having surgery two months into his new contract.

I would agree if it were his back or knee...but I don't see an elbow injury as a potential long term problem.

Sounds like Joe was keeping his injury a secret last season in order to get his new contract.

Will certainly clarify the lanscape and hopefully boost some players' value with potential trades looming upon Joe's return.

They lost by 95 to the Bobcats in Charlotte last year.

Tonight was the 1st night and we won 112-109. JC1 did not start and played 34 minutes - tied for the most he's played all year and about 5 minutes more than he's averaged season to date. Mo Evans started and also played a similar number of minutes season to date since he's recovered from injury.

The wing player who seemed to get the biggest tick in PT was Marvin (41 vs 28) and responded with a decent game (15/4/3).

Look on the bright side, maybe JJ's shooting will improve when he returns to the lineup.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

It could hardly get any worse... ha, ha...

I believe his starting position should be taken by either Crawford II or Evans and then try to fill his minutes at the two and three (while sometimes resting Marvin) with Evans and JSmoove and so allow Horford to play the 4 and try with Collins, Pachulia and Powell inside.

Our lineup should have been without JJ since the end of last season. The Hawks would probably be slightly worse (maybe 2-3 wins) up to this point with him out. We'll win about half of the games we play untill he comes back. Not too bad.
GO HAWKS.

I was thinking the same thing. When I heard Joe say his arm had been bothering him since last season, I was wondering why in the heck did he wait until his arm was about to fall off before he went to the doctor about it. Joe could have had this taken care of during the off-season. Oh well, I guess the man wanted to make sure he got all his money.

This could save Drew for this year. He now has a built-in excuse.

Trying to be positive, how we do in the playoffs is all that matters to us, anyway. We'll have a fresher Joe and a deeper bench.

But, if the offense continues to look smoother without Joe, he'd better pay attention.

I look at it as a chance for Marvin Williams to step up into a bigger offensive role or prove himself as a lost cause. I also see it as a way for Joe to be fresher and in peak condition for the playoffs, which is the only time he can prove his worth anyway.
