Jays Close To Signing Pierzynski (Update: didn't happen!)

Post#1 » by Avenger » Fri Dec 3, 2010 12:46 am

The Blue Jays are close to signing A.J. Pierzynski, according to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times.

keep in mind Joe COWley is the same **** that trashed Toronto and Canada a few months ago, i don't know how reliable he is

seriously? another catcher? so many questions to be asked...

what's happening with JPA and Molina?
Can AJ play 1B?
Is AJ going to be the new DH?
how much and how many years?

i personally dont like him as a player, his attitude is terrible and has a bad rep. is AJ really better option than Manny or Berkman that have been rumoured?

Odd; guess they really don't think that JPA is ready. AJ can always be traded mid-season, I suppose, but this seems unnecessary.

And no, he won't be our new DH...he can't hit.

I don't get this one. Just seems like a 'why not?' kinda of move.

AJ Pieralfjazyncski?? He is a first-rate, Romero no-hitter ruining douchebag. He is also 102nd on this catcher defense ranking - http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2010/1 ... e-rankings

I guess we'll see. The Kevin Gregg signing made little sense and it worked out.

don't understand this one even if they are trading JPA there would appear to be better options on the market then A.J.

Also echoing others on this board I hate that guy.

Only thing that I can think of: if AA feels that JP needs a couple months in AAA before moving up to the bigs permanently, AJ is a good choice of stopgap. For whatever reason, he has a lot of cache around the league and would be very easy to move when necessary (especially as he's probably going to be Type-B after next year).

Still would have preferred the not-AJ route. I mean, look at all the **** initials in the first sentence above. That's madness.

Signing an established starter like AJ would pretty much be a sign that they don't have much faith in JPA's ability to catch at the MLB level. I wouldn't be surprised if he was traded sooner rather than later.

Other than Olivo (and even that's debatable), there really isn't any one better.

B. Molina, Zaun, or Barajas? All lesser options.

gregorMLB: Pierzynski to #BlueJays is just a rumor out of Chicago at this point. I wouldn't read too much into it yet.

Well...I'll never trust Cowley's reporting again.
