Dark meat; much juicier, much more flavorful, higher fat content, and fat equals taste. Anything else is just dry, stringy bird flesh. This goes for Thanksgiving as well.
I've never brined a turkey. You must have a big pot.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
I hope you, your family and friends the very best.
Enjoy them while you can. You never know what tomorrow will bring.

The Qatar thing is preposterous. FIFA should just admit it's an auction instead of a "selection>'

This season of Dexter has been pretty good.

The last few episodes have really picked it up. Lumen is a good character. I hope they don't end this season on a tragic ending.

If Lumen doesn't die, then the show will be breaking that pattern. Lumen will either die or go back to Minny.

They can't get rid off Lumen's character and Dexter's love interest after developing it for so long. I think Lumen survives.
The season will end with either Deb finding out about Dex, something happening to Harrison or Quinn doing something crazy to either Dex or Deb.

I haven't watched Dexter in over a month. The season was off to a painfully slow start, so I stopped watching. Looks like I may have to catch up.
BTW, new show I'm watching: Mad Men. Got the first 3 seasons on Blu-Ray on Black Friday. TERRIFIC show, slow, but it's very cerebral.

Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Re: Official Not So Random Thoughts Thread Version 2.2
Just found out today that a friend has breast cancer. This lady has two young sons and she's a single parent with few friends.
Those so inclined to do so please pray for Francine's health, strength, and medical care situation.
I've put her in touch with a minister and his wife that I trust to comfort her and to direct her on what she can do to stay encouraged.
I am worried about this. Please pray for me that I don't get sad and show her that I am really down.
This lady's been through a lot.

Agreed Raf, the first two or three episodes of Dexter were really painful to watch, but once this seasons story-line starts picking-up, it really gets cooking.
Funny, I also blitzed-through box-sets 1-3 of Mad Men recently. Mad Men is a fantastic show, at-least the first 3 seasons. Highly Highly recommend the show if you like great writing/characters.

Work/life has been keeping me away from these parts more than I'd like lately. I did make it to my first basketball game at MSG on Monday for Knicks-Wolves. That building feels tiny. Very cool.

Anyone read Luke Scott the Obama Birther's interview?
His delusions about America 50-80 years ago* and denial about the president's background aside, I disliked one attitude of his, expressed in these quotes:
America is a big diverse place. The founding fathers were not of uniform opinion or background, and at the time of America's founding they certainly did not represent, symbolically or legally, all Americans.
Here's a clue for you Luke: there are many types of Americans, and there are many types of people who have represented America. Obama is not your type of person and Ted Nugent is: that's great. They both get one vote.
*"Eighty years ago, 50 years ago, a man would walk up to another man and go in for loan. He'd extend his hand, he'd shake it and he'd look at the man and he'd say, "I'll pay this back." He would do it. You couldn't even ... to even mention that [scenario] today ... is that a cartoon fantasy? That's how far we are removed."
His delusions about America 50-80 years ago* and denial about the president's background aside, I disliked one attitude of his, expressed in these quotes:
I'm a big fan of Ted Nugent because he's a "keep it real" type of guy. He respects wildlife, he loves to hunt. I look at Ted Nugent and ... he's an American. He has the core beliefs of what it means to be an American in his heart. He lives by those beliefs and those principles. It's the same beliefs that our forefathers, who fought for our country, have.
Obama does not represent America. Nor does he represent anything what our forefathers stood for. This country is basically built on an attitude. It's a way of life. It's not because you're born here.
