Normally I would argue with facts, logic, metaphors, and stories meant to help you put yourself in a Clevelander's shoes... but we have a few hundred pages of posts just on this message board detailing exactly why Lebron is a tool, the many questionable things he's done, and how he carelessly, recklessly, and needlessly ripped the heart out of his home team. I shouldn't have to bring those up again, and no one should have to waste their time pointing out the deep flaws in your position, so I'll just stick to playfull ad-hominen arguments that still make more sense than calling Cleveland ungrateful.

I dunno. I hate LeBron with the white hot anger of a thousand suns, but Cleveland fans deserved getting their hearts get ripped out again. They created that monster. Bunch of enablers. They reap what they sow.

Although I wouldn't go as far as saying the Cleveland fans "deserved" to get their hearts ripped out, I have to admit I don't feel sorry for them. LeBron has been a douchebag from day 1. The Cleveland fans had no problem rooting for and defending the douchebag while he was on their team.

I loved how Marv, Steve Kerr, and Reggie Miller said how they liked James post game interview ... until James referred to his "greatness."

These fans were more than happy to watch LeBron crab dribble his way to bogus playoff series victories against us year after year, they deserve everything they are getting from him and more.

I can't even understand how Wizards fans could turn around and root for the Cavs at anytime. It's about the closest thing the Wiz have to the Redskins/Cowboys rivalry and I never see anyone rooting for the Cowboys under any circumstance. Apathetic Wiz fans for ya.

I don't think it was ever really Wizards versus Cavaliers; it always seemed more like Wiz versus Lebron, then and now.

I can totally understand the whole "made their own monster" argument. I give them a half-pass, though, because he was the hometown hero. They treated him like family, and expected he would do the same. He didn't, and made that clear in the most dramatically self-glamorizing way possible.

I have compassion for them, sue me. =D

If it came down to the Cowboys having to win a game to get the Skins in the play-offs, I would hold my nose and cheer for the Cowboys. I think the Wizards/Cavs rivalry was primarily a Wizards/LeBron rivalry.

If I were a Cavs fan, the team mailing it in last night the way they did (and clowning around with LeBron from the bench) would have seriously made me question life. What an abomination.

I found this quote about LeBron coming back to Cleveland from Mo Williams amusing:

“It’s almost like your ex-girlfriend coming to your wedding,” Williams said.

This is a common usage error that I think we should work out here, once and for all. That should read:

LeBron's Mom is too loose.

That's what they're saying on sports radio this morning, but let's be real. Watching that game - it wasn't about who gave better effort; it was about 1 team simply being light years better than the other team.

I'm totally in the camp that Cleveland fans got what they deserved - and they're the ones that should be embarrassed - not the players. Chanting "Scottie Pippen" as an attempted insult to LeBron is an indication of how little respect and understanding they have for the game. The jilted lover martyr act has gone on wayyy too long. Wearing shirts with the word "VICTIM"... fighting in the stands with Magic fans... how pathetic. Sure, he's a jerk, and he could have handled the situation a lot better, but he more than earned everything he got from Cleveland and their fans, and it's pretty clear that he was smart to leave. I have absolutely zero sympathy for them and their owner.

Wow, I cannot remember if I've ever been on the same page with Ruzious like this before but I agree wholeheartedly.

I will never forget those same fans filling up the entire arena during the playoffs with their WITNESS shirts, and how everyone went crazy about the Wiz making those "Cry Baby 23" shirts and everyone was going to boycott Papa Johns over it. I'll never forget the interactions I had with Cavs fans during those years and those of you who think the rivalry was simply about LeBron must be forgetting how the rest of that team/fan-base acted so cocky/arrogant when they had LeBron around and now they want to go and cower in the corner.

Can I try to invoke the wisdom of Solomon here and resolve that we all hate BOTH Lebron and Cavs fans?

FWIW, my sympathy is with Dan Gilbert, the owner. I don't have much sympathy for the Cleveland fans either. But just because I don't care for the Cleveland fans, doesn't make what Lebron did any better. I still hate Lebron more than any other figure in sports.

This also reminds me of an email exchange I had with Uncle Ted a few weeks ago. He said that he didn't even want to talk about players who wanted to leave the Wiz. He went out of his way to specifically mention Antawn and said - look at where he is now.

While that seemed a tad unfair b/c we were going to blow the team up anyway based on our record, Antawn going to Cleveland was both Wiz letting him leave PLUS Dan Gilbert doing whatever he could to appease Lebron.

I dunno nate. Gilbert's behavior since The Decision has made it pretty clear that he's at least a little bit of a moron -- if not worse. I wouldn't want him owning a team I loved. His spite and delusion are delaying a rebuild that should have started the moment Lebron left. I'm sure he bears some of the responsibility for the team's failures while Lebron was there.

I don't feel sorry for Dan Gilbert.

Dan Gilbert did everything Lebron asked him to do, but Lebron still screwed him. Now, in hindsight, one can see that Gilbert probably shouldn't have catered to Lebron. Rather than please Lebron every moment, he should have ignored Lebron and built the best team possible in the hopes that Lebron would stay simply because they were winning.

Dan Gilbert can be accused of being stupid, sure. But his heart was in the right place. Lebron still betrayed him.

Betrayed him??? How many times have we seen the shoe on the other foot. He had every right to leave and go to another team. He didn't owe Gilbert anything. I don't like Lebron and probably screwed his legacy but the "its a business" line works both ways. It not like he said one thing and did another. He always said there was a chance for him to go to another team from the beginning.

I don't have a problem with Lebron leaving. I have a problem with Lebron begging ownership to acquire a "stretch four" at the Trade Deadline and convincing ownership to pony up $40M for Antawn Jamison's 3-year contract, and then walking away in the offseason.

If Lebron had any inclination he was going to leave, he should have told Gilbert not to invest MASSIVE amounts of money in over-the-hill vets.

On the other hand, I am thankful that EG took advantage of the opportunity and swindled Gilbert into taking Jamison. What a freakin' steal of a trade.

I'm with nate--LeBron has every human right to play for who he wants to. The problem is the execution, and the build up. Cleveland has a middle of the road roster that has no hope of garnering a good draft pick or success in the playoffs. That is because there are some decent players there who work hard, but not a lot of talent.
