I personally think we should, and knowing AA he will probably has inquired with the Mets who they want since hes on the trade block. I understand he has been injuried these few years, but he is still one of the most exciting players in baseball and also a switch hitter which the jays do not have.
If we did get him, I would move Hill to 3rd, Escobar to 2nd, leave Bautista at RF (although he can play 3b, I think he is happier in RF and is imo very good there).
This leaves what the Mets want back. they said 3-4 players including prospects.
I would be willing to ship off Lind + a B prospect (JPA or Stewart) + some older C prospects like Thames or Sierra.
I don't think losing Lind is that big of a deal, considering Manny wasn't offered arb and we may sign him, who is a better DH then Lind regardless of his age.

I would be all over this big time. I am a huge Reyes fan and having him at the leadoff for the next number of years would be a huge upgrade on this team. when healthy, he is one of the most dynamic players in baseball.

not sure about the difference in escobar and reyes, but the are both known as above avg SS defensively. And Bautista is known for his arm, so I would put him either RF or 3b.

It would render Bautista's cannon of an arm useless.
imo, Reyes gets injured way too often to be of any help. So no.

I'd pass on him. He's got one year left on his contract and if we're dealing for a potential one year rental and I'd rather not shuffle guys around just for him. He just doesn't fit into what AA is doing.

SS isnt an area of need right now. Neither Reyes nor Escobar will be moving to 2B next year

If this were a year ago and Reyes could be had for relatively little, which may be rumoured, but I still don't credit as being overly likely, I'd be all over it as a low risk high reward scenario, but between his salary, his injuries, and the fact we've already got Escobar, there's no reason for it. If you're gonna make this kind of a gamble, there are better places and larger holes on the roster for AA to spend money and/or prospects.
Now if they're dumb enough to dangle Wright out there, then I'd be pretty darn interested.

2007-09
Escobar: .301/.375/.426 (111 OPS+), 11.3 WAR, ages 24-26
J.Reyes: .288/.356/.443 (109 OPS+), 11.3 WAR, ages 24-26
2010
Escobar: .256/.337/.318 ( 80 OPS+), 1.9 WAR, age 27
J.Reyes: .282/.321/.428 (103 OPS+), 2.2 WAR, age 27
The difference between the two is not worth the additional cost. Escobar is under team control for three more seasons and will undoubtedly be less expensive than Reyes will be next season and beyond.

Reyes is one of my favorite players in baseball, but it's hard to make a good case for trading for him.

I do hope they trade him though. Only because I would cackle with glee if Jeter became the newest New York Met. Unlikely I know, but a hilarious possibility to hope for.

And this is why you're not in a GM role.
