Before I catch the gauntlet of attacks, I will say I was born and raised in Miami and I am a HUGE Heat fan. Now that Lebron is on the Heat, I support him, because, in my mind, the love for a team conquers my love/hate for any player - and I really did NOT like Lebron before as he was Wade's nemesis.
I will be the first logical person to say the way Lebron left Cleveland was dirty. He ripped your hearts out, and I can agree with you all 100000% in disliking the guy, much like I think you all can understand why as a heat fan, I support him now -- the love for a team is greater than that of any one player.
My point here is this --- I think yesterday's game showed you how the NBA really is. No one cares about the fans - I mean, the players say they do, and they talk to the media like they do...but look at the actions. ESPN and TNT rub salt on wounds one day in praising Lebron, and the next day trash him to make Miami fans mad. And worst of all.....
....the players. This is their job. They are coworkers and friends. Who cares what team they are on? They all get one another. It's all about fame, money, face time, etc. That's why Lebron can laugh with Cavs on the sidelines. The Cavs players aren't hurt like the fans are. They still go home and cash a nice $250k check every 2 weeks for playing a game with their buddies.
I watched the game last night and loved every minute- obviously..... but I was also taken aback of how chummy the Cavs were with Lebron during the game. I can see how THIS would make you all pissed. But sadly, I think its just a reality. The players don't care whats chanted, what fan base is hurt, etc. We are all faces in the crowd putting money in their pockets. Tomorrow they will be in a new city with new faces that they will forget the next day.
I have no idea why I posted this - its a slow day in the OR so I had free time, I guess.
Go Heat. Go Cavs. Fan Up.
