D'Antoni just wasn't a very versatile coach when it mattered. He stuck with what he knew and did very little experimenting. To his credit though, he did run a very good system but when it came to adjustments, he was very stubborn. What annoyed me about the Banks signing was that, it was done under D'Antoni's watch as GM. D'Antoni was just so short-sighted and saw no benefits of possibly losing a few games with Banks playing more minutes in the hopes that Banks could be serviceable later in the season when Nash (after D'Antoni ran him into the ground with heavy minutes) needs rest.

I am still not sure if it was the system, or if it was who was really running the system, Nash. And now we have come full circle back to Nash being the best player in the NBA.

I just wish we would have used Banks for what he was. He was a tougher defender, with a decent drive. He could have easily caused problems for the opposing point, while getting that guard and some bigs into foul trouble.
Overall, it seems like we feel the same way about how Banks was poorly used.

Well, I don't agree with the kind of contract Banks got, but certainly we could've used him in other ways than making him trying to emulate Nash while Nash rests. Even if he never lived up to his contract, at least play him enough so we get a bit out of it.

haha... yeah I guess so, at least now there is a significant sample to validate your intial concerns ...
now you apologize for cursing him.
What ? Me Worry ?

I didn't jinx him, nice try though. I just pointed out a trend I didn't like. Now if he was shooting 100% and I mentioned that he was doing incredibly, and later he started sucking, I could see the jinx. But that wasn't the case.

Hopefully he can figure out the problem and fix it before the playoffs. Maybe he is just rushing the freethrow. But it is never good for a guard to shoot worse than Shaq from the line.

Re: Steve Nash is the best player in the NBA.
Thought I'd bring this up again:
and
The team with the best offensive efficiency for the last decade:
2001-2002 -- Dallas
2002-2003 -- Dallas
2003-2004 -- Dallas
2004-2005 -- Phoenix
2005-2006 -- Phoenix
2006-2007 -- Phoenix
2007-2008 -- Phoenix
2008-2009 -- Phoenix
2009-2010 -- Phoenix
2010-2011 -- ???
Phoenix will likely take top honors in 2010-2011. Phoenix is currently 2nd behind L.A., but:
1. Phoenix has had a very tough early schedule, and L.A. has had a very easy early schedule.
2. Nash missed two games. Take those games out of the formula, and Phoenix probably is in first already.
3. Gasol and Odom are always part of L.A.'s best offensive units, and they're playing huge minutes right now with Bynum out. That won't/can't continue (Gasol's been playing more than 80% of the Lakers minutes).
therefore...
2010-2011 -- Phoenix
Anyone catching a trend? Do you realize how ridiculous that is?
and
Has Nash ever played alongside even a mediocre defensive frontcourt? Has any team ever won a title without a great defensive frontcourt?
