Blue Jays set for busy week at Winter Meetings

Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Mon Dec 6, 2010 3:03 pm

The Blue Jays' offseason hot stove kicks into another gear at the 2011 Winter Meetings here at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort.

Toronto general manager Alex Anthopoulos will spend his time looking to fill several holes within the organization. The club reportedly is in the market for at least one infielder and a reliever to complete the back end of the bullpen.

Regardless of whether Anthopoulos is able to pull the trigger on any major moves it will be a busy week for the Blue Jays organization. In addition to offseason rumors, there will be several members of the organization, past and present, who will be front and center in the Sunshine State this week.

On Monday afternoon, new manager John Farrell will meet with the media to discuss his plans for the upcoming season. It will be the first time Farrell has met with a large group of media since he was first introduced as manager on Oct. 25.

Cito Gaston will also be there and we'll find out if Tom Cheek wins the Frick Award.

Busy week.

Hopefully AA hasn't been doing too much talking with Brian Burke. I have all the confidence in the world in AA after the moves that he pulled off last season. I really think that we lucked out with AA, and the rest of the baseball world is starting to take notice.
