Has AnyOne Noticed What Kyle Weaver's Been Doing?.?

Post#1 » by Chi » Mon Dec 6, 2010 5:15 pm

http://blogs.bulls.com/2010/12/kyle-wea ... -d-league/

Weaver is averaging 19 points for the season, but over the last three, 24.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists. For the season, he is shooting 51.6 percent from the field, 48.3 percent on threes and 87 percent on free throws while being the perimeter defensive stopper for the 7-1 team that is the minor league affiliate for the Bulls and Suns.

Weaver has done all of that with some brilliant efforts of late, 32 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks last Wednesday, then 30 points, eight rebounds and eight assists Friday before 12 points and five assists in Sunday’s win, but a huge plus-24 in the plus/minus stats, by far the largest on his team in Sunday’s win. “I’m shooting the ball better. But there’s nothing like playing, in whatever league you’re in. To be able to play and win big and make plays, getting the opportunity. It’s a beautiful thing.”

Yeah, but if you watched him play during the preseason you saw the type of skillset he is working with. He has a brutal floor game.

But if this board wants to push for him to sit at the end of the bench, makes no difference to me. He's not going to get any tick one way or the other.

I repeat, if you are wanting to see how Weaver looks in a suit instead of Lucas, that's fine with me. I'm not too into fashion though.

I think at some point, some of the fans boys need to realize that there is a reason why some of these guys are D-League, Semi-Pro material. They do not have the skillset to make it in the NBA as full time players. The exceptions are few and far between. Eddie Basden does not bring Lazerus back from the dead.

If the Bulls want or need to upgrade the shooting guard, they will have to make a trade, period. No D-Leaguer has the talent or the capability.

Now, something REALLY simple we can do is waste a 2nd round pick on Terrence Williams who is a first round talent. He had some problems in New Jersey, but other players have been in rough situations and climbed out of it. There is an example of a high reward, low risk kind of players you can acquire.

New Orleans also has Marcus Thorton and are in the midst of a slide. They may be willing to make a deal. Also, I like Corey Brewer in Minnesota. With Martell Webster sure to come back eventually, they may be willing to make a deal there for Brewer (a friend and former teammate of Joakim).

Those are your low-cost options as I see them.

Your higher cost options are your Mayo and Melo who this board has debated and discussed ad nauseum.

All of these guys can make an impact and have the ability to play in the NBA. Kyle Weaver cannot.

Again, Eddie Basden does not turn water into wine. If Chewbacca lives on Endor, then you must acquit.

There are a lot of players putting up numbers in the D-League. Doesn't mean they're any good.

He only played significant minutes in ONE GAME and played GREAT.

vs. Bucks DNP
1st game played vs Mavs 7 minutes 2 pts (1-2) , 2 assists, 1 reb, 1 blk , no TO's
vs. Wiz... 17 minutes 5 pts (2-4), 5 assists, 4 rebs, 1 TO.
vs. Raps DNP
vs. Mavs DNP
vs. Magic played 2 minutes ZEROS
vs. Raps DNP
vs. IND DNP

He only played 26 minutes in the entire preseason. But looked REALLY GOOD in the one game where he actually played and the few minutes got in the the other he looked very good.

Kyle Weaver should have made the Bulls team this year no question. He is an NBA player, believe that.

No, he looked bad, he isn't a pro basketball player. You think there may be a reason he played so few minutes, ended up in the D-League, and is still stuck there?

If he is so good, he'd be in the league right now.

Potential for what? Sit on the end of the bench? Okay. Somebody needs to keep bench warm and cheer for Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah. I guess who couldn't be any worse at that than John Lucas. Let's sign him.

I was a major Kyle Weaver supporter, but when someone can't show up on time when the prize is actually getting a roster spot, I become less impressed.

Bogan's is clearly better than Weaver. You need your eyes checked if you think otherwise. And John Lucas usually isn't in the league, and when he is, he shows off his collection of horrid sports coats.

It's like you're trying to argue over which smells worse, a turd or vomit.
