I Got one wish!

Post#1 » by JMac1 » Tue Dec 7, 2010 5:59 am

Gentry finally put Frye at the 4 (I know he is listed at the five, but c'mon) and is starting a 7'0 center. Now, I am assuming Lopez will be the guy starting at the 5 once he gets back into good health (that knee injury was just dumb on his part).

With that, I am hoping Gentry will play a big athletic lineup of Frye, Clark, and Lopez. I don't know if you guys realize it, but Frye is a VERY mobile big, as is Clark and Lopez. I think Clark should model his game after Dudley (hustle, D, and open threes) and do NOTHING that can get him in trouble; take the open shot and drive to the hoop, no ISO's. You have to admit, Clark shoot is looking pretty smooth now.

I think it would be un Suns like and I would get a huge kick out of seeing a front court of Clark, Frye and Lopez with Nash and JRich. That gives us 3 shooters, 3 ball handlers, 2 passers, 4 rebounders, and solid defense with Frye guarding 4's.

I put this on the pre-draft thread, but decided I didn't want to go off topic. So, with Clark displaying flashes, do you guys think we should give him some burn at the 3 with Lopez (Barron) and Frye.

If we want rebounding, size, length and strength :-? it doesn't get any better than that!!

I have to agree with everything you said. Our defense and offense would be sick with this lineup. Lopez has to start playing like he did against the Lakers in the playoffs though. I don't know why he has played bad this season. Maybe he is thinking too much. Also Clark has to work hard everyday in practice so he can get more playing time.

wow. hold your horses. Lopez and mobile never go in same sentence.

Have u seen the way he runs? He runs exactly like a gorilla - with a bad back and bad knee. He is a nightmare when he tries to sprint. He ducks all the way to the ground. Very clumsy guy.

No wonder he is constantly injured. Poor posture. Poor biomechanics. Poor core activation with weak structure and spinal backbone is causing this guy to be one of the least mobile players in the history of the NBA. And one of the clumsiest people on this planet.

As much as I love Earl Clark, I don't think he is ready to start just yet. I think 20 minutes off the bench for him is perfect.

Definitely. Take five from Duds, Turk, Chill and Hill.

Is our problem really that we need to take minutes away from our already logjammed wings and give them to a guy who's worse than all 4 of them? He has a lot of upside but 20 minutes a game isn't nothing...you realize taking 5 from all those guys to give EC 20 would mean Clark would have about the same minutes as Turk and a few less than Hill...and close to twice Duds and Chill.

I know exactly what it means. It means the same thing it meant for Dudley, Goran and Lopez. It means giving him an opportunity to grow. You act as if he is going to cost us something if he plays and sucks?! It isn't going to cost us anything I am not willing to pay for, i.e. a few losses.

I mean I hear you, I've made the exact same argument for giving EC some time in the past. I just think right now, we have REALLY talented guys getting 16 minutes a game and we have people wanting more PT already. The FO should have thought about this.

JMac,

The players would lose total confidence in a coach (any coach) if he started playing a guy that much (for no apparent reason) whose averaged about five minutes a game for the past year and a quarter. He has to show himself just like others. Gentry's been mentioning him a lot lately. He'll get his chance. The rest is up to him.

And I really think he is pretty mobile for a 7 foot center.
