Bears pick up a young, massive guard

Not a huge deal or anything, but the Bears signed Herman Johnson from the Cardinals practice squad. The only thing I know about him is he is huge (6'7 360) and there were people on this board hoping the Bears drafted him 2 years ago. He ended up going in the 5th round.

I'm all for bringing in more lineman and letting Tice coach them up.

Makes you wonder why they didn't sign him earlier. Good bye, Barry Turner. This move also indicates that the coaches are concerned about Webb at RT.

I will be very disappointed if Angelo fails to draft OL in the first 2 rounds next year. They need a dominant LT, and LG.

I really like that Tice is working for next year now. Setting up competition at the RT spot. Yes we do need a LT. Woud you go LT in round 1 or try to get one in FA? If there is no work stoppage, FA will be the Motherload because of all the 1 year tenders signed last year along with the normal FAs. I think I'd go for a proven LT in FA. Jared Gaither will be available from the Ravens. He's been on IR this year but was a stud before that. 6'9" 340lbs. He tried to force a trade but signed a 1 year tender I think.
