May just be not paying attention to contracts, but for some reason $20+ million for Crawford seems a bit much to me. Sox can afford it, though, so meh.
Go team! (The one I want to win, preferably)

I wonder how much Werth effected the money. It's an over pay for the Sox, but as you said they can afford it.

I'd rather pay Crawford 20 mil than JD Drew 14 mil

CC is on the decline. He will be solid for the next 2 years, but speed fades. We have seen it with everyone. I was convinced for the past year or so that he would be a Yank, but I guess this just secures Cliff Lee in pinstripes.

I agree that CC's speed will fade (and one must question the wear and tear of artificial turf will have on CC down the road).

However, CC's bat is no longer dependent on his speed. He's become a very consistent hitter to all fields....and last year with power. I think he's evolving into a Joe Morgan type of offensive player as he's maturing....and surrounding him with all of those bats in the Red Sox lineup......

The Red Sox are getting a terrific player that probably will stay healthy for most if not all of that contract.

Damn.

They're going to have a crazy good lineup next year.
