Paul Konerko signs a major hometown discount with White Sox

Post#1 » by Christophersp10 » Thu Dec 9, 2010 5:25 am

3 years 36 million.

Why couldn't cry baby Princess Jeter do the same for the Yankees?

Konerko had a MVP like season with triple crown numbers. Konerko ended the World Series drought in Chicago. Konerko can still hit.

Jeter is toast and cried like a baby. I wish the Yankees had more people like Konerok who just signed a hometown deal even though Adam Dunn got 2 times more money. Konerko didn't have the ego to want more money than Dunn.

Ehh, I can't say theres much discount there other then deferring payments in the 3rd year to be spread out over 7 years.

Konerko is a no-defense 1b who is replaceable and really has been in decline for a few years, unlike just 1 down year. This deal wouldn't of been possible if Adam Dunn didn't accept to backload his contract.

Jeter is a no defense ss who cant hit. Konerko could at least put up triple crown numbers. Konerko also signed for at least half of what he could have received on the open market.

Jeter signed for 3 times more and still cried.

Crissy you're being absurd.

The Yankees have nearly 5 times the revenue as the South Side Second City Sawx. Like that money is going to hurt an uncapped league...

Go argue in the Knicks or NFL board if you want to WHINE about what NY players get paid...cause in those leagues, cash has consequence. In MLB, NYC is beholden to NONE.

Yes, the Yankees make more money than any other team. that doesn't mean that they should pay Jeter 10 times more than what he think he is worth.

That would be like McDonalds paying their fry cook who had been there 5 years 60 dollars an hour because he think he is worth that much when he is only worth minimum wage.

2011 Derek Jeter is only worth minimum wage.

I guess the slow thinkers cant realize that Jeter is 37 next year, had one of the worst seasons ever and all stats (science) point to him never getting back to his 1999-2006 peak.
