It's ALL a game...and 6 yrs is just to get Cliffy's attention. NO WAY Cliff accepts anything less than 6, and I said that a looooooooooooooooong time ago when some clown thought Cliff Lee would take a 5 year/120M contract.

C'mon wake up.

I'd be surprised if $140-150 does it for Cliffy. I still think he's going to try and get the Yanks to flinch and give him a 7th and push it to $160-180 by using Texas' no State tax and cheaper living as leverage.

I can't blame Lee but y'know...six years is already ridiculous.

i dont think yanks go 7

6 years is perfect, even if they have to increase per yr amount

CC/Lee/Phil/Aj for the next couple years, while developing the "3 Bs"...hopefully they can be developed in 3 years so that they can take the lantern once lee and CC are at the backend of their deals

Did you hear that? CHA-CHING!

BTW I soooo hope Buster Olney is acting stupid on 1050 Michael Kaye, thinking the Yanks plan B is bringing Greinke by shipping Montero.

That really isn't logical at all. Grienke doesn't want to play here (rumors of NTC). Greinke probably can't handle New York (documented anxiety issues). Royals probably don't want Montero because they already have a top flight catcher in the minors AND they already have a hitter with no position (Butler). The Yankees might deal Montero for pitching but it won't be with the Royals. -Jitpal

Apparently he left Orlando to go to Arkansas (home of Cliff Lee). It sounds like Lee's agent, Lee and Lee's family are going to go over the Yankee offer. -Jitpal

Wfan and Heyman are reporting that the Yankees are offering a 7th year. Wouldn't be that big of a hit if the Yankees just kept Nunez as the SS for next year.

That should get it done.

Now just get Pettitte back and I'll take CC, Lee, Pettitte vs the lefties in that Sox lineup any day of the week.

A lefty reliever is an important addition.

Pettitte ain't coming back...

I really don't believe the Yanks would pony up a SEVENTH year (BTW who said the Yanks would do that first? That's right...) without considering their Plan B and Plan C options.

It also shows how DESPERATE the Yanks are right now.

And with Crawford getting 142M from the Sawx, you can BET Lee is getting $160M easy. And once again, WHO predicted that would happen?

Seriously dude, when work tones down by this weekend I will be back to take asses down cause the BULLSH*T posted about the Yanks just reeked of ESPN trade machine mentality that doesn't work in the REAL world.

every1 knows the yanks are desperate

plan B is off the table as crawford has signed
grienke has a social anxiety problem and would not work here
there really is no other top pitcher available
we have real competition from the TEX

all things considered, whatever it takes, 5 yrs, 6yrs, 7 yrs to get it done, Cash needs to get it done....this team needs Lee

Andrew Marchand claims that the 7 year offer by the Yankees is at a lower AAV than their original 6 year offer. Honestly, I don't have a great feeling about Cliff Lee. I just can't imagine him having an insane 1-something ERA for the next couple of years in the playoffs. Whatever, it's pretty much a done deal anyway. The Yankees are just bidding against themselves. -Jitpal

i just think getting lee takes the pressure of our young pitches who are going to be coming up

with CC/Lee/Phil/Aj, the young pitchers can just come and be put in the 4 and 5 spots and learn the game while the others carry the team

per Post, Lee has been offered various deals

something like
5/125
6/140
7/161

the less the years, the higher the annual average

Yeah, supposedly Texas has gone to 6 years. With all the years thrown around, I wonder what the AAV is for all of these offers. -Jitpal

This offseason has been awful for the Yankees. Even if we get Lee we will be massively overpaying. I don't know what to do with this team we can't really upgrade anywhere except pitching and we desperately need to upgrade based on how sloppy we looked last year. The only pitchesr worth caring about are Cliff Lee or Greinke. One is expensive and the other is supposedly not cut for New York. Cashman can salvage the whole thing if he were to somehow get Darvish but thats unlikely.

Return to New York Yankees
