Interesting read.
In continuation of having Steve Nash jacking up stocks of castoffs.

I don't see it as an interesting read. Everything we already knew. Just kind of american-dream-lite story where you praise your newly acquired. There's nothing wrong about it and Barron is a decent player. It'd be more interesting to me to read of him being able to speak some African language tho.

IMO, he's the poor man's version of the guy we needed to pair with Amare up front. A rebounding, defensive hustle guy with decent size with an OK mid range jumper. Basically KT with more size and mobility.

Comparison with KT seems to be good one. Bigger but less skilled.

By a lot. Barron plays more like Lou than anything. Very high energy guy, gets offensive boards and will alter shots. KT, on the other hand, is a very skilled and high BBALL IQ player. He knows what to do with the ball on the offense, sets *great* screens, rebounds well for his size and was an elite post defender.

I agree with you. Plus I like that you mentioned Lou. Even though he was definitely fan favourite, Earl is more than adequate replacement. Hope Gentry find way to get this team going (like a million men plus Barron) once Fropez gets back.

Depends what Gentry does with Frye. If he starts Frye than our bench suffers because it doesn't have that space Dragic needs to run the system. We really need to make a trade to give our wings and Gentry some breathing room.

There is no way nobody wouldn't suffer. We're just too deep. I wouldn't mind doing 3 for 1 trade, but I like whole team (no to so much Hedo love though). We're making it step by step towards being better team. We were terrible rebounding the damn boards, but we are at least respectable since Earl joined us. Our team defense still sucks more than it should do.

I really don't think Baron is an adequate replacement for Lou. The big difference is that Lou's hustle usually resulted in made baskets for our team, while Baron's hustle seems to result in very few Suns buckets. :(

I was watching that Dallas vs GS game on NBAtv, and man do I really miss having Lou on our team. What the heck was our FO thinking?

KT was also originally a big-time offensive threat but had to change his game - still a deadly jumpshooter

Lou was a better finisher around the basket. But Barron plays just as good hustle defense as Lou.

Not just finishing for himself, but keeping the play alive to allow us to get the basket. Baron seems to just keep the ball alive long enough to turn it over. I still think Lou was more active on the defensive end. Maybe not in one on one settings, but on team defense, which with us playing a zone is quite useful. Plus I haven't seen anyone get so frustrated with Baron, that they had to take a swing at him and get kicked out of the game. 8-)

Baron attempts on putbacks makes me constantly facepalm. Assuming Hedo deal is going to be anyway, who do we not sign to make room for Lou?

Lou was also a shot blocking presence. He had a top 10 shotblocking rate iirc. I think in terms of hustle defense, they were pretty close but Lou seemed more alert on team D but that could be because Barron hasn't been with us for as long.

Barron is doing better catching on to team defensive schemes than Warrick is -

check this, interesting piece about our strong-side zone
