Gilbert is right! No one knows the exact details, but the public does know that whatever he did was essentially deemed worthy of:

1) 50-game suspension from the NBA, and
2) 30 days in a halfway house, and
3) Two years probation.

It's unfortunate that his regret is more for being caught, than for his mistake.

Best possible outcome would have been sincere admission of a mistake for which he took full responsibility, and then just moved forward. Worst possible outcome is not taking responsibility, and trying to cloud the truth with rhetoric.

That being said, it would be interesting to know exactly went down.

Gil feels what he did was a prank. It was reported as if 2 guys wanted to kill each other. He feels the media coverage is the reason he got in trouble.

Self-righteous types like yourself (OP) obsess over if he is showing remorse or not, when it makes no difference. His debt is paid to society and what's in the past is in the past, it's over and once we get past January; hopefully we will never have to discuss this again.

What he did was really immature and stupid...which does get you in trouble now adays. I mean are any of the supposed "trouble makers" in the league ever really evil? I really think they just fall into the "stupid-mistakes" category for the most part...or perhaps mentally unstable category...but not evil.

I do know one thing. The media didn't seem to think it was a big deal that Roethsliberger displayed a pattern of sexual abuse towards college girls or that Brett Favre tried to have an extra marital affair and sent pictures of his penis to unsuspecting women.

Roethlisberger physically assaulted college women in college towns. He went to small college bars intentionally to have sex with college girls. Those that did not comply were physically assaulted and possibly raped. Yet a guy who played a stupid but harmless prank had cameras, dirty news reporters and the entire nation on his ass. Roethlisberger on the other hand is the toast of the town in one of the biggest football markets in the country.

The only thing that bothered me about the interview is Gil's comments about him being here until we can move him. Seems like he has one foot out the door. I just wonder how invested Gil can be with this team if he thinks the organization doesn't want him (or if he doesn't want to be here).

It's not just the coverage of the situation during the time of the discovery/trial/sentence for the incident, it's the ongoing scrutiny of Arenas that gets my goat. You can't even play NBA 2K11 without hearing the announcers mentioning it. Linda Hamilton of the Washington Post loves to rip him whenever given the slightest opportunity. The TNT/ESPN broadcasts have not been fun. It seems like Gil can't catch a break nationally or locally.

Granted I don't live in Pittsburgh, but I don't seem to hear about Ben's lady problems anymore. Just last night I noticed that I still see tons of Brett Farve commercials, so apparently his sponsors don't care. Smells foul.

Michael Vick then Tiger. Tiger Then Gilbert. All men of what is called color. They are the "fresh meat". Then comes Big Ben. Who is not a man of color. I guess after Gilbert, the media didn't need fresh meat. Same for Favre. The thing about it, what Big Ben did was worse than ALL.
