i wonder if Dana White still thinks Overeem isn't a top 10 heavyweight. that was amazing.

Overeem would destroy JDS, Werdum, Mir, Nog and Nelson IMO. The big unknown is how would he fare against wrestlers like Cain, Carwin and Brock. Overeem's takedown defense has yet to be tested at HW I believe.

Dana said last night does not change his opinion on Overeem. And truthfully, it shouldn't. I think Overeem is a top 10 HW in MMA, but what he does in K1 doesn't mean anything in MMA. The fact of the matter is Overeem is a can crusher who has lost pretty much all his fights against top tier guys.

Overeem has top 5 talent, but until he sets his sights on MMA greatness and starts consistently fighting top guys, he is going to be considered a can crusher. I'd love to see him in the UFC though.

i agree slightly. truly i think he may be the best heavyweight fighters in the world. but until he fights better guys in mma, he can't move up in the rankings.

but we do know overeem is a great talent. he was one of the top lhw's for years before horsing it up to heavyweight.

Yea, probably nobody in MMA with more talent at HW than the Reem, but until he stops fighting Fujita/Thompson caliber cans he doesn't deserve a top 5 ranking. Maybe around 10ish.

Yup agree with you guys, Overeem is easily the most talented HW imo but it's hard to make an argument for him considering who he's faced. He's top 10 at his point but solely on talent.

Of course, it's not his fault, SF couldn't find anyone for him for the longest time so he'd go over to DREAM for a paycheck. He had a bad staph infection that kept him out for a year before also IIRC. He's publicly challenged Fedor but we all now how sh*tty it is dealing with M1. He has the desire, I have no doubt in my mind that he would go to the UFC if they allowed him to do K-1 (which they won't but that's understandable). But Maybe now that he's won the GP he'll feel he accomplished what he wanted to with K-1 and he'll focus on building his MMA legacy.

Hopefully he can get fights against Fedor, Werdum, Silva in the near future though

i think he has one fight left with strikeforce. he should get werdum (because werdum deserves it). but after that i'm torn; do i want him go to the ufc or stay to fight fedor. :-?

agree with everything except JDS. JDS can go toe to toe with Overeem in striking imo.

Is there a champion's clause?

I'm pretty sure there's a champion's clause. Remember reading it somewhere. I think Cain and Fedor will give him major problems. If he manages to hit Brock, Brock would probably pull out another dance move. I don't think he can walk through either of JDS and Carwin, either. He'd be the favorite but I don't think he can walk through them. Nelson and Nog at this point in his career would get destroyed.
