I'm so mad at Sarver and the Front Office

Post#1 » by SunsWinSunsWin » Sun Dec 12, 2010 9:09 pm

I really hope that Sarver sells this team within 5 years to someone who cares about winning and not the bottom line...

Letting Amare walk for NOTHING was the dumbest move of all time....He is playing like an MVP right now and what do we do...let him walk and get nothing in return...Then we spend more money then it would have taken to keep Amare to bring in Hedo and Childress. What are they thinking!?!?!?!??!

How could the Suns think this team would do anything with no post presence at all, no defense, and no rebounding?

This is just pathetic. I hate being an AZ sports fan. All our teams suck because of lousy and cheap management. God I hope Sarver sells this team. I'm just so upset with how this team is structured.

Not only that, but no legit free agents would want to sign with Phx knowing how Sarver is with contracts. Lon Babby and Lance Banks are morons and should never have been offered front office positions... Okay, my venting is over... I just hope this team is sold to someone who actually wants to win and not make the team "fun to watch". This team isn't even fun to watch. What a disappointment.

Sarver offered Amare a fair contract in my opinion, but Amare turned it down for more guaranteed money. Had Amare been playing like crap in NY, everyone would be praising Sarver in not giving the contract. However, Amaere is beasting and it's looking like a poor decisions RIGHT NOW. Had Sarver known Amare would beast like this, i think he might have offered a better contract. But at the time the contract was issued, it was fair.

Almost everyone LOVED the Childress signing. It hasn't worked out well so far but remember, he's playing with a splint, and there are too many SFs. If one of them gets traded, and he gets more PT, his production should increase.

You're saying that the suns management is cheap and lousy. Yet, Sarver took on Hedo's contract trying to replace Amare and offered Childress, Frye, Dudley long-term contracts. I actually don't mind Hedo's play. Sarver could have easiley just let Amare walk and sign no replacement. But he pledged long-term money for Hedo, hoping he would help us contend.

And if the team's not fun to watch, you don't have to watch..

Not cheap, just incompetent. He signed Frye, Childress and Warrick for almost as much as he could've just given Amare.

No one has ever doubted what Amare is capable of doing. He's definatly playing at a all start level. The issue with Amare is this, will his knee's be able to hold up for the longevity of his contract? Doctors that have experience with Amare's surgery have stated that he's going to need to go under the knife in the near future. His knees are a timing bomb imo. At this moment, letting Amare go looks bad for Sarver and the Suns FO. But let us revisit this in a couple years and I believe that our opinions and views will change to being grateful.

So if we had shelled out the money for Amar'e where would we be after this season, when we would fail to get over the hump again, and Nash's window starts closing fast? That leaves us with Amar'e as our number one, and JRich, if we can afford him next to Amar'e, as a second option. Hill's nearing retirement too in this scenario, and we didn't get Turk, Frye, Warrick or Childress because of signing Amar'e that offseason.

Dragic/JRich/Duds/Amar'e/Lopez

bench Turk or Barbs/Earl Clark/Gani Lawal/Garret Siler/Earl Barron

My point is, that roster sucks compared to anything we've fielded lately and we already have trouble -you're then stuck needing to fill out roster spots with not enough money and your roster for 5-6 years has to revolve around Amar'e as the centerpiece - and I have to argue he can't lead a team to a title.

Actually we didn't move Amar'e for nothing. We received a huge chunk of trade exception.
Letting Amar'e go, at the time, is a move that made sense. Personally, I would have preferred him to stay, but it's not necessarily the "right" decision.

Blame the FO for signing useless crap to surround Steve Nash. Hedo freaking Turkoglu for Barbosa. No picks involved. This is worse than that Shaq trade we did.

Not signing Amare doesnt rank in the top 5 reasons to question the intelligence of the Front Office. May be not in the top ten if you go back far enough.

Fact is our ever changing management has taken equal turns in F-n up our chances. The one constant of the Nash era is Robert Sarver. I'll grant him some 'learning curve' room the first couple of yrs, listening to BC, D'Ant and Kerr to some extent, but it is clear, this last off season maneuvering has left Phnx in the awkward position of having to make a trade to remain relevant.... just the very thing that has led to past backroom bungling and buggering.

It is no surprise, as many painted us as this little-sister defense and rebounding brownie* squad. It appears their brush strokes were right. All along the only real rebuttal than outright blind denial was 'we are set up to make a trade come Dec 15'.

This new group has 3 weeks or so to redeem themselves and restore some confidence from all involved.

Amare turning down money is FALSE. He wanted to stay with the Suns for less money but on a long term contract. Knicks tempted him with the chance of Lebron coming in he agreed on a deal to play with them but NOT for $100 million as the Knicks were trying to get Lebron. A day or two later Lebron announced he was going to Miami so the Knicks paid Amare more money as they weren't getting anyone else.

Stoudemire got offered 5 year contract extension with the 4th and 5th year as having a CONDITION... he had to play enough minutes... if not, he only gets a portion of it..

IT WAS FAIR... as all SUNS fans... all the ones that are aware enough.... know that Stoudemire's knees have a time limit before a new surgery is required....

He is beasting in New York... thats expected... if he is beasting for the next 5 years then... I think Suns got jibbed by the surgeons/physicians.... because Sarver offered a contract based on INSURANCE.... Stoudemire had issues with insurance on his 4th/5th season if he was extended...

Knicks were desperate... or the fans will revolt... they probably have the same concerns.. but for the next 2-3 seasons they will maximise Stoudemire's presence.

They got Amare a week or so before Lebron announced that for the 100 million dollar contract. He had already been signed and was declaring he could get them Lebron.

When amare's knee gives out people will be praising Sarver

I'd wait until after there a new CBA is negotiated to see if we did the right thing. Might turn out all that salary becomes a liability for the Knicks.

Up until Thanksgiving, Amare was doing alright....only alright. The Knicks (at that time) looked like they were headed for the east coast basement.

Amare and the Knicks have had a great 3 week run. Will it keep going?

Right now, the decision to let Amare go looks bad. But what happens if Amare blows out a knee? What happens when the lockout occurs at the end of the seasons and there are major contract changes?

We knew that letting Amare go would sting badly this year...but it could still be the right decision in 2-3 years.

It's too early to tell.

Are ya'll sure? I swear that someone on the board mentioned Amare would take less money if Lebron came in. I thought the $100 million wasn't the first amount he agreed to with the Knicks.

Nonetheless, i think one of the biggest reasons he left was cuz he thought he could bring Lebron to NY.

No it was about money. It's basically the exact same scenario in which the Suns got Nash. Suns offered him more years guaranteed and the Mavs wouldn't match. Had the Suns given Amare the same contract the Knicks gave him he'd still be in Phoenix.

Luckily the Nash signing worked out for the Suns and hopefully the Amare signing works as well for the Knicks, but it's not what Amare does or doesn't do this year that will determine that. It will be if he is healthy the final 2 years.
