LeBron getting Bashed for Bashing NFL's Trent Dilfer

Post#1 » by Jordan-esque » Fri Dec 10, 2010 8:15 pm

This has been making the rounds on NFL message boards:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdo ... nfl-293762

LeBron James is a sensitive soul, so sensitive, in fact, that his thin skin extends to other star athletes who are getting criticized. The two-time NBA MVP was watching "SportsCenter" the other night when he saw former Super Bowl champion and NFL analyst Trent Dilfer(notes) breaking down Peyton Manning's(notes) recent disappointing performances. As Manning has thrown eight interceptions in three straight losses, Dilfer obviously wasn't too complimentary with his remarks.

So fired up was LeBron about this, that his thoughts stretched out over two Tweets. (140 characters can't hold him!):

http://twitter.com/KingJames
Watching SportsCenter and (ESPN Analyst) Trent Dilfer is talking bad on how Peyton Manning is playing as of late! In (Dilfer's) wildest dream could never ever do the things Peyton does on the field. Good or bad! People get on TV and think they can say whatever they want! And it's always former players! Crazy!

1. A man who has self-anointed himself as a king is bashing others for saying things they can't do? Thank goodness Charlemagne has been dead for 1,200 years, because if that dude was alive today and had a Twitter account, he'd probably have a few choice words for "King James." And isn't this the same LeBron who said the Heat were going to win seven titles? Get back to us in 2017 and see how that's working out for you, champ.

2. Of all the people on ESPN's football coverage to bash, LeBron picked Trent Dilfer? I'm not going to say I'm a huge Dilfer fan, but he's easily one of the least offensive people involved with the network's NFL coverage. Chris Berman, Cris Carter, Tedy Bruschi(notes), Matt Millen, Tom Jackson and Cris Carter (yeah, again) work there. Singling out Dilfer is like saying the Heat's early struggles have been because of Mario Chalmers.

3. Dilfer's comments on Manning weren't that off-base. Lord knows LeBron can't take criticism very well, but that doesn't mean it's not well-deserved sometimes. Peyton is playing bad football at the moment. Much of that has to do with injuries and a bad defense, but if Peyton gets the credit when the Colts win, he deserves the blame when the team loses. (And unlike LeBron, I'm sure Peyton is self-aware enough to realize when he's playing poorly.)

4. LeBron is right about one thing: Dilfer couldn't dream of doing what Peyton has done of late. In the last three games, Manning has thrown eight interceptions in three consecutive losses. Dilfer never had such a bad stretch during his 13-year career.

5. Trent Dilfer: one ring. Peyton Manning: one ring. LeBron James: zero rings.

This is the first Lebron topic i've posted on, because I'm indifferent to him, but that's a douchebag thing to say. Dilfer was right about Manning at the time, but I guess Lebron needs to chime in on everything.

Its was a silly statement but just further evidence of how LeBron's mind works. He's never had to live in the real world, so he doesn't understand.

To a certain extent he has a point, Dilfer is criticizing others for some of the same mistakes he made ON THE FIELD.

LBJ isn't the first one to think this way, he's just the first one to say how he feels.

Um. He could never do the bad things?

....

Dude, I could throw eight interceptions in 3 games.

I could throw eight interceptions in 1 game!

So, in LeBron's dream world, no one should be able to criticize another individual unless they themselves could or have done better? I guess we should eliminate 95% of all media then, and have practically no debate or discussion throughout society as well.

+1

It's his job to ANALYZE the NFL. What was he supposed to say? "Well I was a mediocre QB so I can't really comment?"

.
As a proud LeBron hater i feel bad for defending him but
1.No LeBron is a man nicknamed King James just like will smith is nicknamed Fresh Prince with neighther having any known royal linage. Who knows how many titles theyll win. I guess players shouldent have high aspirations.
2.LeBron also went after other ex players in basketball who act like the moral highground
Magic Johnson - Had Kareem, and Worthy would be stupid for him to leave
Michael Jordan - Oakley, Pippen, Grant, Rodman
Larry Bird - The Chief, McHale
Charles Barkley - had a midlife crisis teamed up with hakeem and drexler and failed to get a ring
4.All LeBron meant was ex Players need to stop talking trash. Im not big on football so i wont get into a manning vs dilfer historic debate with you
5.LeBron 26 Trent Dilfer 38 Peyton Manning 34
I guess John Wall - 20 is just as bad as LeBron and Adam Morrison the man of 2 rings is twice as good in basketball as those guys are in football.

You know its ridiculous when people are comaparing getting a ring with 12 people to getting a ring with a small army led by the several coaches.

Thats not to say that LeBrons comments were something I agree with but should the man stitch his mouth shut just so you guys don't pounce on his every word.

when will ppl get it through their heads that LeBron is simply so wildly disconnected from reality that it is the only rational explanation for his behavior ever since he got into the nba?

I dislike Lebron as much as the next guy, but I dont see the big deal here. Dilfer was doing what he is paid to do.
