would you rather have Melo getting Chandler's shots and touches or have Chandler keep them?

rebounding, ft attempts, pressure on the defense (LeBron would have to guard him, meaning have less energy on offense) Leadership, winning.

Stick the screws to them Donnie!
I'm sure the Bulls have interest. The question is whether Denver wants Deng's contract, along with Gibson presumably.
I'd offer Gallo, Walker/Azubuike with Randolph (or a pick) along with Curry. I might include Mozgov. That would be close to a hard line for me. I'm on the fence about Chandler and I'm off the fence about Fields. He's a no for me.

i'm appalled that anyone would even suggest that Chandler's shots and touches would have a lower value if Melo had them.
and people keep talking about chandler's defense..
he isn't even rated top50 in the league in defensive +/- for on/off court. and, guess who is top 5?

The question is more whether they can sucker some 3rd team to take Deng's contract for an expiring.
Bulls also have Charlotte's 1st round pick, which is a better asset than anything we can bring.

What deficiencies would adding Michael Jordan in his prime to the Knicks address? Sometimes, it isn't a case of addressing a weakness, but adding another player makes you even stronger where you are. Want to know how this works? Say the Knicks happen to get Melo, and keep Chandler, before the trade deadline. At that point, they can end up resigning Chandler, which helps with depth.

And I agree with Aggo... I mean i'm not saying this Topic is one of them, but i'm seeing alot of topics which is in many words saying dont go after Melo...Knicks Real gm fans kill me, when we're losing alot of people go completly overboard.And now that wer're winning I still feel people are overreacting. If your satisfied with us making the playoffs and being exited 1st round or so.Keep the team we got. If you want us to make noise in the playoffs and have a legitmate shot.Go after Melo, it's that simple....Not saying Melo guarantees anything, but our chances greatly increase. He's a Superstar, who can fit in.Offensively unstoppable, Good Rebounder, and I would believe he will step it up on the D.End in NY.(i'm being optimisitc with the Defense)...
But I'm just sayin so many of you complained so aggresively and now we're on a winning streak and it's like many of you have become content....No, the goal hasnt changed. A championship aint easy but If we can be a serious threat, Go for it. A trio Of Melo,Amare and Felton,,,,and Keep Fields. Thats something serious. Most likely we would still have Will or Gallo. That's a dangerous Squad. If you think people are starting to pay attention to us now. Let us Get Melo....smh. They really gonna have a reason to hate us.

Re: [Camelo Thread] - Update: He's Pushing for Knicks! Part 5
This is how I view our situation.
We have 3 levels of prospects.
High- Chandler/Gallo/Fields (felton but he is off limits)
Mid- AR/Moz/TD
Low- Walker/Rautins
I think the fair thing here is one of each. Plus a pick and the expiring contracts to match the money.
Fields makes so little and does so much that his trade value is very low. (for us) 400k has no real impact on a trade. So he is a toss in contract. But not a toss in player. So I think he is out of the discussion.
If they want 2 pics then we use a mid level prospect to get one. And subtract it from the deal. (meaning 1 high level prospect, one low and 2 picks)
Denver probably wants all 3 prospects and wants us to use a mid level prospect for a pick. Meaning it would cost us 4 good players. (and 1 future) THAT would be gutting the roster.
Im think what happened is denver being in the position they are in, feels if they get one of each we must take a contract. Billups, Smith, Nene are all nearing their final years. Anderson is not a major contract and could be traded later.
I think the deal is gallo, AR, Wlaker, Curry, Azu, 1 pick for Melo and Harrington. (harrington is the only player in the deal that would have to wait until the 15th)
If thats the deal I think we make out well. Harrington is a dummy. As a leader he sucks. But harrington has balls. He has the attitude to hang with these guys. We know he wont back down no matter what. We know he is intense. On this new team he is a hired gun. A goon. And a good one. Especially if you lose gallo.
Something you have to think about in all of this is, we are the last to know. Walsh is not a leaker. Melo says he only wants NYK on sunday. That does not mean this is the first time he has said this privately.
Just because he comes out and says this publicly does not mean we can get him for junk. You have to include a high level prospect. There is so much at stake we as fans dont see. Remember when everyone thought Pau was given away for free? They took a hit. But now Mark is a coveted big man.
Marc Gasol=high level prospect
Javaris Crittenton=low level prospect
Brown Mckie= money matches
And 2 1st round picks
Gallo=hih level prospect
Ar=mid level (or in this case 1st rd pick)
Walker=low level prospect
Curry/Azu= money matches
And our own 1st rd pick
Al jeff=high level prospect
Gomes = mid level
Green=low level
Theo=money match
Now in this deal they got another mid/low level prospect. But only one pick. The 2nd pick was the right to have their pick back from a previous deal. I suppose you could argue the prospect level of these players but its kind of mute. Gomes was playing better. Green was high risk high reward from the moment he was drafted. Telfair still had some value. But none the less you can see the construction of the deal.
Each situation was different. The Grizz were paying star money to Pau but getting nowhere. The wolves and KG were over due for a divorce. And KG was older.
I remember thinking boston dumped the farm for KG and ray. They kept perk. They kept rondo and traded the other 2 young guards. And now Rondo is a star. (I hate saying that)
Just how I have been seeing things. Wanted to throw it out there. Its great to dream. But a deal centered around AR and Walker is not happening. These guys cant even get PT. We will have to include a good rotation prospect.
Melo can say what ever he wants but you have to think about the business aspect for denver. AR/Walker/Curry. Why even bother? Just wait until the summer. They can still get AR from us because we are around 2 million short on a max deal anyway. They wold be better off keeping (and spiting) Melo and waiting in that case. They would be a better team this season. And get nearly the same package in the summer. And the satisfaction of not giving in to melo.
Yes we have leverage. Well really Melo has leverage. But this leverage is to keep us from getting ripped off by denver. They cant say well so and so's package is better. The leverage does not mean we are going to rip them off either. It just keeps a level negotiating field between 2 ball clubs. (or maybe other teams involved in the deal)
Again just thoughts I have gathered over the last 6 months of this situation. (yes its going on 6 months this lingers)

The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired forward Pau Gasol in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak. The Lakers will also receive the Grizzlies second round draft choice in 2010. In exchange Memphis will receive forward Kwame Brown, guard Javaris Crittenton, guard Aaron McKie (who the Lakers signed earlier today), the draft rights to Marc Gasol and first round picks in 2008 and 2010

BOSTON - The Boston Celtics announced today that they have acquired 10-time All-Star and 2004 MVP Kevin Garnett from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair, a 2009 first round draft pick (top three protected) and a return of Minnesota's conditional first round draft pick previously obtained in the Ricky Davis-Wally Szczerbiak trade. Minnesota also receives cash considerations in the deal.

That...and he's a better defender than given credit for. I'm sure you didn't mean to put scoring up there, we already roll with scoring but Melo only makes us even better there too.

That pick is protected from the top of the lottery, I believe either top 10 or top 12 so no its not a better asset.

Late game closer. Much better than Amar'e at closing out games. Go to guy for the last second shot.

Well, Melo is a great closer, one of the best, but dont discredit Amare he has been the best closer in the league this season.....And I remember ealry on so many posters saying we dont have a closer or some1 who can finish games....haaaaaaaa!

That Charlotte pick is in 2012 and is protected in the top 14 that year. Then in each year after that, it is top 12 protected in 2013, top 10 protected in 2014, top 8 protected in 2015, and unprotected in 2016.
