Re: Jazz community thread
From South Dakota but lived all over....been a Jazz fan since early-mid 90's...I grew up in a house divided by a bitter Lakers/Celtics rivalry and altho I leaned towards the Lakers when younger mostly to spite my sisters I fell in love with the Jazz's hardnose style of play...the 2nd Finals loss is still one of my most bitter memories and to this day it pains me to think of it, mostly because I feel the Jazz were outplayed in the first Finals and JOBBED in the 2nd

Fell in love with AK/Harpring/Arroyo/Bell playing their arses off and beating teams that they never should have had a chance against. I appreciate the hard work that is evident on the court when Jerry Sloan's teams play, and the character of the players that is evident within the organization is also rewarding.
I am a big fan of the statistics of basketball as well, and the Jazz, with their logical style are a great test bed for my formulas. I think that the Jazz offense is art, and that they are more pleasing to watch than any team when they play well.
Are you a major in statistics? I am also fond of statistics and need to learn it as much as possible if i want to excel in my course (Industrial Engineering)
I will be starting my Freshman year of college next year and I will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I am, however, in a college stats class right now - but it doesn't make me an expert by any means.

Re: Jazz community thread
From Canada...started watching basketball in the late 80s. I didn't have a favourite team or player (but knew that I did not like Michael Jordan) so figured I would just start watching games and highlights and see whom I liked. Quickly fell under the spell of "Stockton-to-Malone" and the Jazz have been my team ever since.

Re: Jazz community thread
started out when i was a kid. my dad had season tickets in the salt palace. i have brothers. we would take turns going with him to the games. funny, growing up playing backyard ball, i always identified more with john stockton. but as a kid, my favorite player was mark eaton. (must have been the giant, dominating ginger completely changing one side of the court) i dont remember seeing adrian dantley play though. the 1988 season i think musta been what got me really into the team.
i think this is the earliest jazz season i can remember. http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/UTA/1987.html
the 90's jazz teams had me so excited. i went and bought basketballs that had all the new jazz colors and logo during the time. (even the copper ones-all the balls i used and wore out playing on concrete and asphalt) i hated the sonics, spurs, suns, and rockets. i laughed at the lakers and nuggets. i felt like a little bit of my life got robbed away during the finals years. this team has to be cursed to not win either time.

Representing the Jazz in Melbourne, Australia.
Got into the Jazz in school whilst collecting NBA cards. Extremely envious of having so many NBA games to watch each night, really only get to watch on weekends down here as the games are on during the day whilst at work. Reading up on the Mailman and the work ethic he had is truly inspirational, seems like a genuinely good guy, since his HOF speech it has reignited my passion for the Jazz. Plan on visiting salt lake city in the near future to see a few games live. Whats SLC like? looking forward to reading about people's thoughts on the Jazz and keeping up with the news as the coverage here is pretty much zero!

You should check out the Aussie RGM community. They need a Jazz fan rep.

Re: Jazz community thread
Started to watch Utah Jazz when AK joined them.
I'm on the every Jazz bandwagon I can be right now, such as
"STockton is Top-2 All Time PG"
"Malone is top-2 PF ALL time"
"Sloan wou've won the same amount as Phil if only he had this kind of team"
and
"Deron is undoubtly best PG in NBA"
