Grizzlies Open To Dealing Thabeet

Post#1 » by funkatron101 » Mon Dec 13, 2010 10:13 pm

Would you take a shot at him for the Memphis or Utah 1st?

Grizzlies Open To Dealing Thabeet

The Grizzlies are making center Hasheem Thabeet available, reports David Aldridge of NBA.com.

Thabeet was the second overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Memphis believes they already have their center of the future in Marc Gasol and they may be willing to cut their losses with Thabeet, who has been a disappointment.

Grizz are a really bad organization. I cant believe the're totally benching two potentially very serviceable centers. trading Pau for a bag of peanuts.

I wouldn't take him for free in a straight salary dump. I'd consider something like Koufos and Telfair for him, but that's it. I think he's a negative value contract.

I don't want him on the team. If we could take him off their hands, I would still say no.

I was worried Thabeet was going to drop to us in the draft and we'd end up taking him. Thank goodness that didn't happen, still don't want him.

I'd give him a shot if we only gave up our scrubs: Love, Beas, Rubio, Flynn, Brew, picks, Wes, Webster, Darko and Pek are all off limits. Everything else on the roster is fair game.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I'd give them Ridnour

Agreed.

It'd be nice to have him and Pek for different situations plus it'd be funny to have another #2 pick and for Mayo to get even less minutes.

Imagine if we some how turned around Thabeet and him and Darko became the most formidable centre tandem in the league. Blocking shots at a record rate.

Realistically, I probably wouldn't even give up Ridnour for Thabeet.

When I was at Marquette we would watch Thabeet and say, "man he is going to be such a monster when he develops an offensive game." Well we're still saying that now. I don't think the guy will ever develop. However I would consider a very low end asset for him. Do we have any second round picks that we can even deal?

I wouldn't give up anything of value for him but I think he still has plenty of potential and as a result would be worth a shot if he could be had at the right price. If you could get him for Kofus and Lazar I think it would a be deal that might be worth the minimal risk.

Thabeet has negative value

If Memphis is going to try to get rid of Thabeet, they're going to have to add Mayo (or some asset) to make it more desirable. I guess the rumor is they already tried to use that package to get Ellis. Don't get too giddy though, Mayo and Thabeet will make a combined 10,760,357 next season.

That's about all I'd be willing to give up too. If you think he could develop into a shotblocking presence who could clog the lane then he might be worth the gamble just due to size. Of course the price is rather high for someone who would be a 5th big to basically take Koufos minutes.

I'd do Koufos+Telfair for him but that's about it

Wow, interesting that no one would be interested. He has talent, it just needs to be developed.

if he can be had for cheap, sure why not? can't have too many bigmen. he can take Coufos place on the roster.

Bassy or Tolliver + Hayward or Ellington

I'd like him for 10-15 minutes a game as a backup. Pickup fouls, offensive rebound, block & alter some shot. shrug
