And this is what it's really about in the modern NBA. Swag. Hype. Groupies. The pursuit of basketball excellence or the qualities of a true champion have nothing to do with. Well, let me make this clear - if he shoots 43% as a Knick, his career will end as unhappily as Marbury's. He'll wish he was back in Denver.

I didn't know. I'm just bummed that after the best Knick win in quite a number of years, this board has again become unreadable - Melo this, Melo that, and all for a guy who is having a terrible season, and has never approached the level of a Lebron.

I agree. It's a sticky situation. We're winning and I love the team we have. They have heart and smarts. But at the same time, I think everyone knows that this team can't win a championship. And if we could get Melo and Melo plays at the top of his game, it could be a solid step for us.

But of course, it depends on the price.

He hasn't shot this badly in five seasons. Considering he is not old, I think it's fair to say it has something to do with his unknow future. I don't think it's fair to try to diminish what he does by continuing to say he is a 43% shooter like that's his career average or something. He is a very good player, having a bad season and is only 26 years old. I'll take it.

I personally like what chandler gives us at the 3 more than melo for this team and chandler is much younger and will be much cheaper. Chandler plays better D can still score 20+ and grab 6 boards with 2 blocks I say we lock ill Will up for our SF of the future.

I'll take him for the right price. Honestly, he reminds me of an entire generation of NBA players who rarely improve once they reach a certain age, and achieve their first big pay day. Jordan got better every year. These guys don't. His shooting percentages over the last three seasons are .459, .441, and now .427. Clyde shot over .500 for his career. Ewing was right there as well. Bernard shot .560 and .540 in the years when he was leading the Knicks to the playoffs (and at .490 and above in the years after his injury). That's elite. As far as I can see, this guy is a rich man's Al Harrington (and make no mistake, if Al weren't an idiot, he could have been a terrific player given his physical ability).

I'll take him at a fair price, not Denver's likely price. And if he really wants to get paid more than help the Knick win long-term, I don't want him at all.

If Melo was about to join another team, there fans would be going off the wall on the forums. No offense to other board members, but if you think Chandler is as good as Melo? You need to put the crack pipe down.

We cant afford to gamble next summer. If we had a deal that would land us Melo now, then you do it. A deal that includes Ecurry A.R and any player not including Felton and Amare. This is a win win for us no matter who they pick. We would still have 2 of our 3 young core at the end of the deal.

I am willing to up the ante a little:

Gallo or Chandler, E. Curry's deal which is 50% paid already, $3 million, 2014 first round pick and either AR or a pick we can obtain by trading AR. That's my final offer.

Something still confuses.

To a number of posters here, Carmelo Anthony is apparently a ball-hogging black hole of a scorer who only scores by virtue of volume shooting, can't shoot from long range, doesn't make his teammates better, is apparently on the decline at age 26 and represents the worst attributes of the contemporary NBA player...

... Yet most of these same posters are prepared to give him $100 million dollars and insert him into the starting line-up.

I asked the other day and I'll ask again...

To ANY one of these posters (including some of you mods)...

What's GOOD about Carmelo Anthony?

Its not a Chandler over Melo its quality for a discount. Melo brings nothing that this team needs right now and thats post defense and a back up pg.

How does that help a offense predicated on Movment? our team plays best when the ball is moving Melo is an Iso player.

I don't think Melo is the best fit. I was just answering FM's question.

That being said, I would take Melo at a discount.

Can you name 3 players who can stop Melo at his position?
