Bucks/Hawks trade idea

Post#1 » by cameroncrazies2 » Tue Dec 14, 2010 7:26 am

Would you guys consider a Corey Maggette for Marvin Williams swap?

Pros for ATL-
-Maggette can get to the rim at will
-A true 3
-Can go off for 25 when he wants to
-A surprisingly decent defender
-Maggette's contract is a year shorter than Marvin
-If you start Mo Evans still at the 3, you've got some killer bench scoring with Crawford and Maggette who would compliment each other so well

Cons for ATL-
-Doesn't fix your issues not having a true center
-Might be an issue having too many guys who want the ball

I'll be honest, Maggette can shut down at times and seems to be a bit of a locker room cancer, but when we win, he tends to be a big reason for it and can certainly help a team who needs depth and scoring.

Not at all (and this is coming from one of the biggest Marvin detractors in the fan base). Corey's reputation and contract precede him. Maggette's contract is shorter, but its also a couple million more per season which hurts flexibility to fill out the roster. Corey does get to the line which is nice, but he doesn't fit well in an offense which is what we're trying to develop here. For all his talent I just don't see Corey as a piece on a winning team. Also if we are to get away from Marvin the goal would be to replace his production with a less expensive option, not a more expensive option.

A lil' one-sided for MIL, hey what?

They upgrade Maggette into Marvelous and - amazingly - Gooden turns into West.

It's true that West has less value because he's a one-year rental, but Gooden has NEGATIVE value.

If you're NO, would you want to be stuck with Gooden for 5 (FIVE, gulp) years?
