I think this is right for him.
There are no fights I want to see with Randy now. He's not going to make a title run, especially since he'd have been on the verge of retiring, and I dont want to see him fight a guy looking to get into title contention or Frank Mir.
Nor would I want to see him fight a younger guy or an up and comer.
Randy has nothing to prove, no one to fight and he is going out the right way, on his own terms. It pained me to see Liddell forced into retirement after back to back KO's. Randy is just saying enough is enough, 5 world titles in 2 weight classes is enough, what else does he need to do other than please the fans ... at 48 I think it comes down to his health and family.
Hopefully this starts a trend of fighters retiring when they are still relativily healthy but just feel they cant do much more, and go on to help the sport, top fighters waning miles from their peak and going show to show or just getting forced out is horrible to see. Hopefully Randy goes on to be a ambassador for MMA - and if he actually gets a name behind himself from Action movies (he made do even though he is a terrible actor!) it would help give a bit more punch into the mainstream further.
