If the team was holding Gil back he wouldn't be playing so many minutes.
The good news in this game was that other than Hinrich they took better care of the ball. They also did a good job on the boards.

On a side note, to anyone watching the game did Sasha Vujacic look pissed? He just got traded to the Nets, I'm just wondering.

Wizards start the quarter on an 8-0 run with Booker in the game. Flip subs out Booker.
This coach does this kind of sub consistently. He makes changes when things are right.
My theory is Flip starts looking for mistakes from young players. Flip exerts control by replacing guys after a mistake in Flip's eye. The replacement will be Armstrong, Hinrich, or Yi if Flip has his way.
The score of the game will revert back and the run the Wizards were on will end.
So CCJ
What do you think of the coaching ?

On a side note, that's a great nickname for Hamady N'diaye.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

So wow, Gil really is struggling to find his range. I was really hoping that with Wall out, Gil would have stepped into the open spotlight. He is just off on his 3 ball. I don't think it has anything to do with his knee. He is just off. It's in his head. At least he posted 10 assists.
I actually like how the moved the ball around at times. It looked really good. They were making the skip pass and extra pass to the open player.
As for taking to much bad from this game or the coaching, come on, it was LA.
And we had no Dray or Wall and then we lost Yi. I know a lot of people hate Yi and I have been down on him myself, but he was actually playing well. He was setting good screens. He was active. Then he was out.
The most disappointing things I took from this game are
- Gils 3 ball and when will he find it again and
- I am tired of AT. He has the body, quickness, shot, and some moves to be so much better than he actually plays. He just disappears and that is unexceptable. SF is probably the weakest position on the team so when he is sucking it has a larger impact.
Sit Thorton Play Booker at SF. He gives effort. Bring in Gee behind him.
Gil, Nick, Booker, Dray, McGee should start next game. Dray won't stay out with Yi now gone.
And if Gil is off, put in Kirk for him. Nick needs to be getting max minutes. He is the most complete scoring treat on the team right now.

46 rebounds is pretty good. Specially against the Lakers.
FT killed us. 40 attempt to 16
We need more players who can take it to the rack and get fouled.

Pam's gonna go upside Ron-Ron's head for this one:
http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/page ... daily-dime
I don't know about the gist of that piece that Bynum was some sort of terror that got the best of us. I like how McGee was held to "only" 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. 3 steels as well, but who's counting? It wasn't a particularly good game for Javale, but it wasn't like he was shut down.
That Seraphin busted them up might well have been a bit more in touch with actual events, but I guess we don't have that kind of street cred.
For somebody who hadn't played a real NBA game since Game 7 of the NBA Finals almost six months ago, Bynum outclassed his healthier, more game-ready opponents.
JaVale McGee played 12 more minutes than Bynum but finished with only 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Although limited, Bynum took up space in the middle and passed precisely out of the post. He almost played McGee, a late cut from the USA team that won gold at the world championships in Turkey, to a standstill.
Ron Artest certainly thought so, at least. He went in on McGee after the game the same way he took an unsolicited shot at Michael Beasley earlier in the season.
"He potentially could be a really good player," Artest said of McGee. "I think he got to go to school a little bit more. He's got to work on that IQ a little bit. He got to watch more tape. I don't think he watches tape. I think he plays video games. I do. I don't think he watches tape. I think he plays video games and I think he could possibly have an Atari. He should upgrade to a PlayStation."

I was thinking the same thing. The rebounding was a very encouraging part of this game. Especially, since the majority of it came from Seraphin, Booker, and McGee against a solid rotation of LA bigs. If the young frontcourt can continue to develop (including Blatche), then brighter days may be ahead.
And the FT disparity was a killer. Unfortunately, against Kobe & the Lakers you have to expect the star treatment.

There is a strong incentive for a good game thread against the New Jersey "Draft Picks/BOYDs".
If the Wizards win, then you get to do the Heat game thread.

Yi Jianlian to miss next two to four weeks with sprained MCL
By Michael Lee
By Michael Lee
Yi Jianlian may have to wait until March 20 to get his first shot against his former team, the New Jersey Nets. Yi will stay behind as the team hopes to end a 12-game road losing streak against the Nets on Thursday after an MRI revealed that he has a sprained right medial collateral ligament. Yi said he would likely miss the next two to four weeks, which puts his availability for the Wizards' next game against New Jersey on Jan. 7 in doubt.
Coach Flip Saunders said the Wizards will also likely be without John Wall and Andray Blatche against the Nets. "I don't think we're going to have John. He didn't do anything today, just a little bit of shooting but not much. His thing's a little bit different, because of the tendonitis, doing things, he could wake up tomorrow and be a lot better. He doesn't have anything structurally, where Dray's had more fluid and those things. It swelled up a little bit last night after our game, sitting around for three hours...it's always scary when you have to go fly, up in the air the pressure and the thing might balloon up on us. We'll have to make a decision on that."

Why Yi was playing in the first place is beyond me; chalk this up to the medical staff.
