For the guys that are saying he took two steps into the stop I disagree.

This is NOT the same thing that Manu did. The "step back" and "hop step" or whatever you want to call it is just a jump stop...anyone who plays basketball knows that.

But Manu's LEFT FOOT touches the ground in the middle of the hop, making it a step. So he stepped and then took another step, in effect. Watch the video, watch his left foot.

Sekou Smith is one of my favorite guys on twitter. He always responds to me.

brewcitypaul

@SekouSmithNBA Watch Ginobli's GW shot again. He pushed off and traveled. Terrible. Bucks get jobbed at the buzzer again

Sekou Smith SekouSmithNBA

@brewcitypaul Ginobili does that all the time. Ha. It was a great shot!

He's just laughing about it. So is David Stern probably.

There are no similarities between the LeBron and Manu clips. LeBron is dribbling into a firm/hard jumpstop and his feet do not move at all. Watch Manu again, that isn't what happened.

no.. its actually that ive just played at a higher level than you. thats a walk in hs and the kiddie camps..... but in college, elite level pro ams, and in american professional leagues, it doesnt get called unless youre 7 feet, you have no rep, and you do it in slow motion.

Looks like the intention was a jumpstop, but it was not the result of the move. It was a clear travel and I even said it outloud as it happened.

I do understand them not calling it and I'm okay with that during game play, but that one was fairly blatant and should have been waved off after a review. That's why they have a review.

The game should have gone to overtime.

Hell, it was traveling when I only thought he took three steps. Looking at that GIF it's obvious he took **** four!

blatant travel, obvious offensive foul....wasn't surprised nothing was called.

The blocking foul they called on bogut a bit earlier was just as bad.

This is the problem with the NBA. Teams perceived as superior and players perceived as superior are morel likely to get the calls.

With that said, we should have doubled manu at the top and made someone else beat us.

After looking at that super slow mo, it was most definitely traveling.

So when he picks up his dribble, he has 2 feet down, jumps off both feet, lands, then shoots and that is't a travel?

Can they review penalties? Not sure I like that.

In general, star calls are fine and I think guys fairly earn the benefit of the doubt.

However, they have end of game reviews and the error should have been corrected at that point. I'd rather not hear the whistle in the last seconds and I didn't see an offensive foul. Manu is a great player and it was a nice make, but the travel was made.

The end game review should have been clear. If that were a Playoff game, I would assume we'd get some media support unlike the current situation.

the more i look at it the more im convinced it wasnt even technically a travel. the dribble was retrieved DURING 2 quick steps, into a jumpstop that was lateral but very clean. it was unorthodox, but fluid, despite mams extending elbow and the resulting contact.

I don't know the official rule on that, but they should have waved it off. I don't think it was that close. If they aren't able to call a travel after a review, then that is something that should be changed.

i edited it back to 2 steps. not the 1.5. technically that makes it a travel but the 1.5 to 2 steps is such a judgement call that its irrelevent. it wasnt a travel imo. sorry you guys are so pissed at me.

Agreed. It was just a really funky looking move for an already herky-jerky kind of player.
