I've thought it's been TD's team since Robinson retired in 2003. Other players have stepped at times and taken over games for long stretches but to me, TD's always been the emotional leader of this group.

Similar to KG in Boston, without picking on smaller Euros.

I kinda feel that it's been a while. I mean, it's arguable that 2009, Manu is our best player. in 2008, Tony was our best player. 2007, Duncan and Tony basically shared the spotlight. Even in 2005, Duncan shared it with Manu.

Manu and Parker has taken over or become equals to Tim on different years. What becomes glaring this year IMO is that it looks like we can survive even without Parker because George Hill looks to be a very capable replacement. And then it looks like we can survive without Duncan because bigs are our deepest position. Manu is the one irreplaceable on this team right now.

This question is almost heresy. It's Duncan's until he leaves. He was the building block for all their success. He's the Hall of Famer to be.

It's Duncan and it's not even close.

Yeah, he doesn't need to be the "best" player to be the heart and soul of this team. Manu is the straw that stirs the drink and TP has his moments of total greatness but TD has been the leader of this group for a long time.
