Update: Orlando Hudson signed to Padres

Apparently there aren't many suitors for Hudson and there's a chance he can come back to the Jays. I would totally love that. Excellent defense, top of the lineup batter, great clubhouse guy. I enjoyed how Hudson and Wells would joke around with each other during the game.

Getting Hudson would mean sliding Hill to 3B which I prefer over E5. Hill is similar body type as David Wright and I think Hill can make that switch. As for E5, he can split 1B/DH with Lind and I think our position players are set for the season.

C: JPA/Molina
1B/DH: Lind/E5
2B: Hudson
SS: Escobar
3B Hill
LF: Snider
CF: Wells
RF: Bautista

Side question, can Hudson bat leadoff?

Damn, 11.5 mill for 2 years, i guess it's fair market price. AA wasn't biting unless it's a deal like E5 at 2.5 mill

always liked Hudson - you know what you're getting at a reasonable price & to the best of my knowledge, has a great personality & positive attitude.

Like the lineup with Hudson with Davis resting the outfielders/facing lefties & McDonald resting Hill/Escobar/Hudson.

It'll be interesting to see what AA does at 3B.

btw, Hudson made 5 million this past season:

I think we can bring him on for less money and hopefully similar contract E5 with 1 year + 1 more with team option. that'll be perfect and probably the most underrated move in the offseason

I kind of like this move because if it makes Hill play 3rd, it allows Bautista to stay at his preferred position in RF.

Can Hill make that throw from 3rd? Not saying he can't but i'd like to see him do it for a few weeks. It's quite a different throw than the one from 2nd to 1st.

yeah, contract like E5's would be great - low risk, higher upside value.

Well he'll be a good fit with the Padres, really would of liked to see him come back to the Jays though.
