Another Lottery Reclamation Idea?

Yes, Yao, I'm talking about you.

"I haven't died," he said. "Right now I'm drinking a beer and eating fried chicken. What were you expecting, a funeral?"

"Right now, I still hope I can come back and play," he said.

Yes he's injured. But he still has a desire to play in the NBA. Yao seems like the perfect big for this system. Defense? Check. Passing? Check. High-Low attack? Check.

A free agent this offseason, I wonder how close Houston is to giving up on him. Maybe we can grab him for cheap?

Seriously though, I think Yao is the hardest player in the NBA to put a value upon.

Sure he has awesome physical stature, and has had a potentially career-threatening injury. However, it's his revenue-generating potential that I can't get my head around. Supposedly, Yao generates a lot of revenue in China, and Houston has made a number of deals with Chinese TV stations/government? to broadcast Rockets game. Merchandising must play a large role as well.

Could MIN slide into those deals? I imagine Chinese fans would root for MIN just as much as HOU if Yao was here. But can he play? What are his commitments to China? I just have a really hard time putting a value on that guy.

Yao walking around during a Minnesota winter has catastrophe written all over it.

Definitely a gamble, but if we can get him for the right price maybe. It would be nice to have player like Yao coming off the bench and playing 15 minutes a night.

he's basically in the same category as Greg Oden right now, that being, "for free?...sure why not."
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

LMAO Klomp. Yao's career is as good as over. Good for our system? You realize we're #1 in pace right now right?

Who's next? Michael Redd? Vince Carter? Patrick Ewing out of retirement?

I'd be very surprised if he ever plays an NBA game again.

Thats pretty much the state of it. Doctors would have to rebuilt him Steve Austin style for us to get any wins out of his contract.

And to think, the Yao dominating Dwight Howard video almost sold me.

I wouldn't trade for him, but I'd happily take a chance on him in free agency if the years are 3 or less

If it takes Brewer, Ellington, and their pick back, why not?

That pkg has been brought up before in connect with Iggy & Mayo, never really heard any other names mentioned besides Webster. I don't see us offering anything more eye catching than that besides flipping Webster & adding another pick.
