Trading Gil would be bittersweet, but its probably time. However, I refuse to believe Ernie is giving up Gil for Rashard f'in Lewis. VC I understand (shed $$$, great deal), but Lewis? It makes more sense to let Gil play his way into a better offer, or wait out a new CBA and see if there is a way out of his contract. I know Gil and Wall haven't played well together, but please don't make me watch Rashard Lewis chuck 3's for the next four years. We need a perimeter shooter in the worst way, but not at 20 mil a year.

Gil is shooting 50.5% TS% this season, which is awful. He hasn't shot 53%+ since 2006-07.

yup, but as we all know, ts is seriously effected by ftm/fta. now that gil isnt getting calls, its not a surprise his ts has taken a dip

But even his eFG% is only 46.5% this season. Which is hardly something to boast about.

no argument from me here. gils ts% this year has been AWFUL but as i stated before ts is based on fg%, 3 efficiency and fta/ftm. now there are plenty of stats to indicate gil has been getting the ai treatment for the refs which is a HUGE reason y gils ts has taken a dip

i love how some magic fans go out of their way to defend otis smith and the moves he makes like paying lewis double what he is worth, giving a backup center the full or letting turk walk and trading the farm for vince carter, or giving chris freakin duhon 10 mill, or now looking to trade for an undersized injury prone overpaid chucker who cant guard a chair. svg will just love him lol

What's there to be misinformed about? I have watched him this season and he doesn't have that drive that made him a superstar when a couple years ago. That killer instinct, that quality of taking over games by making unreal shots... that's completely gone. He's 28 and he looks like a 35 year old broken down chucker at the moment. His advance stats support my thoughts on Gil as well. What more is there to say?

well hes all urs now. the trade looks to be a done deal. as u will soon see, hes not a chucker. he looks to get his teamates invloved first unless hes told to shoot. as a wizard, he was really mentally effected by the treatment he was getting from the refs. hopefully he will earn some respect by being on a winning team.

hmmm.. I think Orlando should have traded Jameer instead of Vince/Gortat.. but we'll see what they get for them... If I had to guess I'd say they are going to the Bobcats

I haven't watched ARenas much this year, but are you saying he's just getting repeatedly hacked with no fouls called?

And what exactly is the "Allen Iverson treatment"? Iverson averaged 8.9 FTA/game in his NBA career. So it's not like he didn't get calls.

sort of. he attacks and draws contact but 9 time out of 10 its a no call which results in a turnover or a missed fga. i mean the stats are all there to prove this. from a guy who used to average 9fta per game, hes down to 3. hes now on a string of 3 straight games where has has gone to the line ZERO times. hes in the bottom of hte list for starting guards in fta per game and even on the defensive end hes averaging 3.5 fpg! only one other guard is in the top 25 for fpg. even our broadcasters repeatedly bring it up and they are known to call the game without any favoritism.

its a reference to wat tim donaghy used to call the ai treatment where he said refs would make it a point of emphasis to not call fouls in favor or ai, late in his career.

Nah... at least Nelson can deliver deep in the playoffs every once in a while. Carter has an annoying consistent tendency to disappear... Arenas is untested in that area, we'll see what he does. I wish Gortat weren't involved, though.

touche, but i think when the playoffs start, u will be surprised to see how fierce of a competitor he can still be... but i guess only time will tell... one thing i know for sure, gil loves ballin, and has ridiculously intense work ethic.

We aren't surprised by our guards not getting calls. Ask any Magic fan, Vince got shafted many times on drives. Especially in the playoffs vs Boston.
